Position Overview
Curis Functional Health is seeking an experienced Payer Relations & Credentialing Specialist to support payer relations, provider credentialing, contracting, enrollment, and reimbursement initiatives across our growing organization.
This role will be responsible for managing the end-to-end credentialing and payer enrollment process while also developing strong relationships with commercial and government payers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of healthcare payer requirements, provider enrollment, credentialing processes, reimbursement methodologies, and multi-state payer operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesPayer Relations & Contracting
- Manage payer relations, contracting, credentialing, and payer enrollment activities across the organization.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with national and regional payers, including BCBS, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Medicare , and other commercial and government payers.
- Support Curis' expansion into new markets and states by identifying and coordinating payer participation opportunities.
- Identify opportunities to improve reimbursement through fee schedule optimization, contract renegotiation, network expansion, and value-based initiatives.
- Monitor payer policies, reimbursement trends, contract requirements, and market developments.
- Research and evaluate payer requirements and market dynamics to support organizational decision-making.
- Escalate and resolve payer-related issues that may impact provider participation, reimbursement, or clinic operations.
Provider Credentialing & Enrollment
- Manage the full provider credentialing, enrollment, recredentialing, and credential maintenance lifecycle across multiple states.
- Ensure provider applications and enrollment materials are complete, accurate, and submitted within required timelines.
- Monitor enrollment status, payer deadlines, expirations, and recredentialing requirements.
- Maintain accurate credentialing records, documentation, and reporting.
- Oversee credentialing software platforms and related workflows.
- Manage and maintain provider information within CAQH and other payer enrollment systems.
- Coordinate with providers and internal teams to obtain required documentation and resolve credentialing issues.
- Identify and address enrollment delays or deficiencies proactively.
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Develop and implement credentialing policies, workflows, procedures, and performance metrics.
- Improve credentialing turnaround times and reduce enrollment delays through standardized and scalable processes.
- Maintain a strong understanding of multi-state credentialing requirements, payer policies, reimbursement methodologies, and regulatory changes.
- Support accurate reporting and tracking of credentialing and payer enrollment performance.
- Identify operational risks and recommend solutions to improve payer and credentialing processes.
- Support delegated credentialing initiatives and ensure processes align with applicable payer and compliance requirements.
Growth & Cross-Functional Support
- Support new clinic openings and market expansions by ensuring payer participation and provider enrollment readiness.
- Partner with the Revenue Cycle Director and Compliance Officer on payer strategy, credentialing compliance, delegated credentialing, and payer alignment initiatives.
- Collaborate with providers, clinic leadership, revenue cycle, operations, compliance, and other internal teams to ensure smooth payer participation.
- Provide leadership with insights into credentialing performance, payer trends, enrollment risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Contribute to scalable processes that can support Curis as the organization continues to grow across multiple states.
Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of experience in provider credentialing, payer enrollment, payer relations, healthcare contracting, revenue cycle operations, or a related healthcare field.
- Experience working directly with commercial and government payers preferred.
- Experience working with healthcare organizations, credentialing vendors, or delegated credentialing environments preferred.
- Strong understanding of provider credentialing, payer enrollment, contracting, reimbursement methodologies, and multi-state payer requirements.
- Working knowledge of CAQH and payer enrollment systems.
- Ability to analyze reimbursement trends, fee schedules, payer policies, and market benchmarks.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to communicate professionally with payers, providers, leadership, and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, providers, payers, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to connect credentialing and payer operations to broader organizational growth initiatives.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a fast-paced, multi-site team.
- Experience in a growing healthcare organization is a plus.
