About the Role:
The On-Call Mammography Technologist plays a crucial role in providing high-quality imaging services to patients, ensuring accurate and timely breast cancer screenings. This position requires a deep understanding of mammography procedures and the ability to operate advanced imaging equipment safely and effectively. The technologist will work closely with radiologists and healthcare professionals to ensure that all images meet the required standards for diagnostic purposes. Additionally, the role involves educating patients about the mammography process, addressing their concerns, and ensuring a comfortable experience. Ultimately, the On-Call Mammography Technologist contributes significantly to early detection and treatment of breast cancer, impacting patient outcomes positively.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Mammography Technologist from an accredited body.
- Current state licensure to practice as a radiologic technologist.
- Completion of an accredited radiologic technology program.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a clinical setting performing mammography procedures.
- Additional certifications in breast imaging or related fields.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems.
Responsibilities:
- Perform mammography procedures in accordance with established protocols and safety standards.
- Prepare and position patients for imaging, ensuring comfort and understanding of the procedure.
- Maintain and operate mammography equipment, ensuring it is functioning correctly and safely.
- Collaborate with radiologists to ensure high-quality images are obtained for accurate diagnosis.
- Document patient information and imaging results accurately in the electronic health record system.
Skills:
The required skills for this position include proficiency in operating mammography equipment and a strong understanding of imaging protocols. Attention to detail is essential for ensuring that images are of the highest quality for diagnostic purposes. Excellent communication skills are necessary to effectively educate and reassure patients throughout the imaging process. The preferred skills, such as experience with electronic health records, enhance the technologist's ability to document and manage patient information efficiently.
