Senior Accountant

We're a growth-stage biotech company looking for a Senior Accountant who thrives on getting the details right and wants to build their career at a company where the accounting function is actively being professionalized. This is a hands-on role, preparing and maintaining core accounting processes from day one, plus meaningful exposure to an ERP implementation and a growing internal controls environment, experience that's hard to get this early in a career at a larger, more established company. What You'll Do Prepare journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations as part of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close Maintain supporting schedules for prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accrued liabilities, and other biotech-specific accounts (e.g., CRO/CDMO accruals) Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate/resolve variances Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including vendor invoice review and coding Assist with payroll accounting entries and related reconciliations Help prepare monthly management reporting packages and supporting schedules ERP Implementation Support Participate as a team member on the upcoming ERP implementation, testing workflows and validating data migration from the current system Document current-state processes and help update procedures for the new system Flag data or process issues encountered during testing to the Assistant Controller and implementation team Audit & Internal Controls Support Assist in gathering documentation and support for internal control processes as the company matures its accounting function Support external auditors with schedule preparation and PBC (prepared-by-client) requests during quarterly reviews and annual audits Help maintain organized, audit-ready work papers and documentation for all owned processes Cross-Functional & Team Partner with other departments (R&D, clinical operations, HR) to gather information needed for accurate accruals and expense classification Respond to ad hoc requests from the Controller, Assistant Controller, and CFO as priorities arise Who You Are Big 4 or comparable public accounting experience strongly preferred 2 - 4 years of accounting experience, ideally including some exposure to a fast-paced or growth-stage environment CPA (active or in progress) preferred Strong attention to detail and a high bar for accuracy Solid grasp of US GAAP fundamentals and eagerness to build deeper technical accounting knowledge Comfortable with ambiguity and limited process/documentation Prior biotech, pharma, or life sciences exposure a plus, but not required Proficiency in Excel; experience with a general ledger system (QuickBooks, NetSuite, etc.) a plus Strong communicator, organized, and reliable — you follow through on what you say you'll deliver, and on time Why Join Us Real ownership and visibility early in your career, in a lean team where your work is seen and valued Direct exposure to an ERP implementation and a maturing internal controls process — rare and valuable experience for someone building a career in accounting Mentorship from a Controller and CFO invested in developing the team #J-18808-Ljbffr Slate Medicines
