Environmental, Health and Safety Manager

The EHS Manager serves as the site leader for environmental, health, and safety performance. This role is responsible for defining and executing the site EHS strategy, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving a proactive safety culture. The Sr. EHS Manager partners with plant and business leaders to reduce risk, improve performance, and protect employees, assets, and the company's license to operate. At this complex Super-Wide manufacturing facility, the role carries expanded scope due to the overall size, operating complexity, and larger employee population supported, requiring broader organizational influence and stronger leadership presence across the site.

This role provides both strategic direction and operational leadership, ensuring EHS systems, processes, and behaviors are aligned with business objectives and corporate standards.

Essential Functions

EHS Strategy and Leadership

• Define and lead the site EHS strategy, including risk tolerance, compliance priorities, and culture objectives

• Translate strategy into measurable goals, governance routines, and performance metrics

• Anticipate regulatory and business changes and adjust site plans accordingly

• Align EHS priorities with production, financial, and operational goals

Risk Management and Compliance

• Ensure full compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and internal standards

• Lead environmental permitting, reporting, and regulatory interactions

• Own incident investigation processes, root cause analysis, and corrective action effectiveness

• Establish and govern risk assessment tools, including MOC and risk ranking methodologies

Safety Culture and Continuous Improvement

• Define site safety vision and drive a learning culture with accountability and psychological safety

• Lead implementation of prevention systems such as BBS and HOP

• Drive continuous improvement through data analysis, trend identification, and system optimization

• Ensure effective communication and scaling of lessons learned across the site

Financial and Operational Impact

• Set EHS investment priorities aligned to risk reduction and compliance needs

• Support and influence capital and expense planning tied to EHS initiatives

• Monitor cost of risk including incidents, claims, and compliance impacts

• Communicate the financial implications of EHS performance to site leadership

Governance and Accountability

• Establish governance routines to review EHS performance, risks, and action plans

• Hold site leadership accountable for EHS results and sustained performance

• Lead site audits, inspections, and performance reviews

• Ensure accurate reporting and tracking of leading and lagging indicators

Change Leadership and Transformation

• Lead site-level EHS improvement initiatives and transformation efforts

• Measure effectiveness of initiatives using data, audits, and performance trends

• Scale successful practices and address underperformance with clear actions

• Align leadership behaviors and expectations to support culture change

People Development and Leadership

• Build and develop EHS team capability through coaching, mentoring, and succession planning

• Establish clear expectations and development plans aligned to site risks and priorities

• Promote leadership behaviors that reinforce accountability, collaboration, and engagement

What do you bring?

• Safety Sciences, Engineering or related field or in lieu of degree 7 + years' experience in an EHS role with an associate's degree

• Experience in a manufacturing environment with a strong safety record and success in reducing occupational injuries and maintaining compliance with pertinent regulations

• Working knowledge of ISO standards and EHS management systems

• Machine guarding and equipment safety lifecycle understanding

• Experience with federal and state OSHA regulations and reporting

• Experience with root cause methodologies (WCM or equivalent)

• Industrial Hygiene (IH) knowledge or training with prior supervisory experience preferred

• Strong change management skills to include the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles and concepts

• Ability to function, multi-task, and influence others in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

• Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written), problem solving and analytical skills

• Problem solving and analytical skills to solve practical issues and deal with a variety of changing situations; Six Sigma experience is a plus

• Experience with risk assessment and familiar with methodologies-

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel/Word/Power point
