Summary: Responsible for contacting "bad debt" customers to collect payments and settle accounts. Works with third party debt collectors to aid in settling member debts. . Education and/or Experience Associate’s degree required or four years of directly related experience Minimum four years of consumer financial services experience required Minimum of two years collection/recovery/bankruptcy experience required Basic understanding of regulations and policies regarding debt collection and collection law required Basic understanding of Fair Debt Collection Practice Act and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) experience required Akcelerant preferred DNA preferred Microsoft Applications, including Excel and Word required Basic understanding Outbound Collection Calling | Loan Collections | Banking Software | Credit and Collections Software preferred Effective written and verbal communication skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines Job Responsibilities: Responsible for outreach to members and debt collectors to settle debts and collect payments Engages in skip-tracing activities and research to locate members Initiates account settlements pre-approved by campaigns Recommends loan settlements within established guidelines Prepares and submits loan documentation for collection Analyzes data to achieve delinquency and charge-off goals Adheres to all company procedures, state and federal regulations Stays current on all collection industry with a strong focus on collection regulation changes, bankruptcy regulations at Federal and State levels, changes in recovery legislation, etc. Adheres to all Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements. Perform other duties as needed upon request from immediate supervisor. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications and operational needs. The salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
