Position Highlights
The University of Arizona, Campus Health Service (CHS) seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Medical Assistant. The Medical Assistant position is responsible for assisting Physicians, Nurse Practitioners (NP), and Registered Nurses (RN) in the examination and treatment of Campus Health patients. This includes basic data collection and documentation of patient status; observing, administering, and documenting approved nursing procedures; attending to patients' comfort needs; and performing other specific duties as needed by the nursing unit under the supervision of Physician, Nurse Practitioner or Registered Nurse.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Greet and room patients.
• Obtain and documenting vital signs, health screenings and pertinent patient information.
• Assist medical providers with exams and procedures as appropriately delegated.
• Serve as a chaperon for exams of a sensitive nature or when requested by a patient.
• Administer medications and immunizations as ordered by the medical provider.
• Document appropriately in the electronic health record (EHR) including all interventions, phone conversations, or other interactions.
• Assist with documentation/data input of university immunization requirements.
• Monitor and maintain patient flow in assigned areas.
• Provide patient education as indicated.
• Coordinate any patient follow-up care as requested.
• Conduct pre-authorizations for clinicians as needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following CHS Infection Control policy and OSHA guidelines.
• Stock and maintain supplies.
• Additional duties as assigned (within the scope of practice).

• Excellent customer service skills.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
• In addition to the education and experience minimum qualifications, Clinical certification and/or licensure required.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Urgent Care/Ambulatory health clinic experience.
• Current BLS Certification.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses.Thesereports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims.
