The Director of IT and Systems is responsible for directing, planning, coordinating, and overseeing all information technology and cybersecurity activities at the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas (CALV). The Director ensures a cost-effective, robust, stable, secure, scalable, and service-oriented IT environment in the cloud and on-premises. The Director also coaches and mentors IT staff professional development aligned with business needs and supporting organizational operations. The director also works closely with senior leaders in identifying, developing, implementing, and supporting business processes and technology solutions. This position will report to the Executive Director of Finance, IT, and Security

Essential Functions:

• Oversees IT Personnel
• Over all aspects of CALV's on-premise and cloud infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage, databases, and cybersecurity
• Collaborate with senior leadership for technology discovery and projects, ensuring delivery of high-quality systems in a timely and cost-effective manner
• Direct the evaluation of new technology solutions, including cloud and SaaS solutions, and develop supporting documents, plans, and other materials required for the successful implementation of new capabilities in a safe and secure manner
• Manage the selection and performance of vendors and 3rd party service providers in collaboration with senior leadership
• Direct the continuous improvement of all aspects of the technology lifecycle, including design, implementation, maintenance, change management, and root cause analysis
• Champion and promote the use of technology, enabling the workforce to utilize new technologies in support of strategic business goals
• Direct the development and implementation of new on-premise, cloud, hybrid cloud, and SaaS solutions, including Azure, Microsoft 365, Google, AWS, and Microsoft Power Platform
• Direct the design, specification, configuration, installation, and maintenance of software/systems/storage/security/network hardware, software, telecommunications, and internet service providers
• Oversee the hardware and software lifecycle, ensuring hardware and software continually meet or exceed business needs
• Direct the IT purchasing process, coordinating the order, receiving and invoicing activities related to the acquisition of hardware software, systems, and other new technology
• Prepare and manage department budget while ensuring expenses are aligned with business needs and on or under budget
• Facilitate effective communication between management, staff, students, and partners to ensure a practical approach to implementing technology solutions.
• Research and recommend purchases and negotiate with vendors to ensure cost-effective and business-aligned purchasing decisions
• Monitor and maintain highly available environment and systems
• Develop and maintain strategy and technology roadmaps, ensuring they are reviewed at least annually.
• Direct and oversee CALV's cybersecurity initiatives and development of disaster recovery and business continuity plans
• Work with department leaders to identify opportunities for business process improvement and automation
• Oversee IT compliance with regulatory, legal, and OSHA policies, procedures, and standards
• Backup IT System Analyst when on PTO or during busy times
• Backup IT & AV Specialist when on PTO or during busy times
• Manage departmental and organizational policies and procedures
• Additional responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or relevant equivalent experience.

Experience and Education Substitutions:

• Two (2) to five (5) years managing IT infrastructure and services.
• Two (2) to five (5) years of experience with Microsoft Azure and 365 applications configuration, deployment, training, and administration
• Two (2) to five (5) years of managing IT projects and delivering projects on time and on budget
• Five (5) years of managing IT teams & progressive experience in IT roles

Licensing and Certification:

• Network+, CCNA, or other networking certification (preferred)
• Microsoft Azure Associate or better certification (preferred)
• Security + or other industry-accepted cybersecurity certification (preferred)
