Together, we're improving health and improving lives.Labcorp is seeking a Histotechnician to join our team in San Diego, CA.Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 10:00am - 6:30pmJob ResponsibilitiesProcess human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic examPerform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimensSection the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slidePerform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sectionsProcess mounted sections through routine and special staining proceduresProperly orient and embed surgical tissue specimensPrepare the stains and reagents needed for special proceduresReport accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient careOperate and maintain manual and automated instrumentsPerform and document equipment maintenance as neededRecord equipment log data in an accurate and timely mannerPerform and document preventive maintenance and quality control proceduresAdhere to the laboratory's quality control policiesFollow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis and reportingDocument problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions as neededMinimum QualificationsAssociate's degree in Histology or a High School diploma or equivalent with 1 or more years of histology experience2 years of experience as a histotechnicianPreferred Qualification:Current or prior Labcorp experienceHistology and/or ASCP certificationsAdditional Job StandardsFamiliarity with routine histology procedures and equipmentImmunohistochemistry experienceComfortability embedding both large and small specimensAbility to accurately read all labels and documentsHighly organized with a strong attention to detailExperience working in a high volume laboratory environmentFamiliarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocolsAble to pass a standardized color blindness testAt Labcorp we have a passion in helping people live happy and healthy lives. Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.
