Conversion Technician - (Pine Knob, Meadow Brook, Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre)

Job Summary The Conversion Technician is responsible for the set up and breakdown of all games, meetings, functions and events for a state‑of‑the‑art, multi‑purpose sports and entertainment facility. Key Responsibilities Participate in all aspects of the conversion process in preparation for events, including setting up and tearing down flooring, portable chairs, operable walls, barricades, staging, tables and other furnishings and equipment. Convert the facility by setting up and tearing down based on event requirements. Perform manual labor, heavy lifting and maneuver equipment to complete work orders. Execute work orders to ensure event needs are met in a timely and accurate manner. Assist with load‑ins/outs to meet event requirements. Operate heavy equipment (forklifts, scissor lifts, tug, boom lift, bobcat, etc.) under OSHA specifications. Assist in repair and maintenance tasks such as painting, patching and equipment repair. Maintain a safe work environment and report irregularities, discrepancies, damage, loss of property and safety concerns promptly following reporting procedures. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities High school diploma or equivalent GED. At least 2 years of general labor and/or operations experience. Ability to use heavy equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, tug, boom lift, bobcat, etc. with precision and accuracy. Certification and license where applicable; ability to become certified. Working knowledge of safety requirements, public facility/venue standards, building systems and infrastructure. Ability to adjust schedule on short notice. Effective communicator, both written and verbal, with excellent interpersonal skills. Work effectively under pressure to meet business deadlines and adapt through change. Knowledge in at least one of the following areas: ice installation, general maintenance, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Knowledge of HVAC, lighting, audio‑visual, computer energy management systems and related codes and regulations for each. Knowledge of and compliance with Federal and State OSHA regulations and safety practices. Ability to work in large crowds for extended periods of time. Perform other duties as assigned. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of practices related to event set‑up and conversion, methods and techniques for maintaining the facility and proper use and care of equipment and tools. Working Conditions Irregular and extended hours including nights, weekends and holidays. Exposure to high noise levels, frequent visual/auditory attention, outside weather conditions, extreme cold/heat, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, high precarious places and fumes or airborne particles. Physical demands include standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talking or hearing, sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, and lifting up to 10 pounds frequently, up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Requires long periods of time on feet.
