Manufacturing Engineer Manager

The Manufacturing Engineer Manager ensures effective and efficient operations of manufacturing processes and functions through regular monitoring of departmental policies, procedures, staff and standards, and responsible for organizing and managing manpower to ensure plant operations achieve both quality and efficiency goals. Provides leadership in the direction of all activities of the division consistent with corporate strategies, objectives and policies.

Primary Responsibilities

• Support new business quotes by determining investment and labor required for safe, high quality, low cost, lean manufacturing operations.

• Support development of new Powertrain Cooling and Heat Exchange (PTC and HEX) manufacturing processes.

• Understand all PTC and HEX products and manufacturing operations in all plants.

• Conduct manufacturing feasibility analysis of new PTC and HEX product designs.

• Represent Manufacturing Engineering at meetings with customers.

• Interface with Product Development on Design for manufacturing features for PTC and HEX products.
• Support plant personnel in development of all required launch documentation.

• Participate in technical design reviews.

• Prepare detailed facility and tool specifications for new manufacturing operations using standardized global process.

• Provide assistance to regional manufacturing plants with any manufacturing issues concerning PTC and HEX products.

• Continuously improve quality by incorporating lessons learned into new processes and sharing with manufacturing plants.

• Ensure safety requirements are implemented for PTC and HEX facilities and tools, new and existing.

• Drive for low cost alternatives for all investments.

• Support pre-production and final validation builds.

• Support all documentation requirements including PFMEA, Control Plans, and Product Development System deliverables.

• Assist manufacturing plant with process design PTC and HEX product assembly and Product Validation (PV) testing required.

• Develop new program launch budgets and plans.

Years of Experience

• 5-7 years manufacturing process engineering experience

Degree Preferred

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering

Desired Competencies, Experience, & Qualifications

• Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

• The ability to manage multiple tasks.

• Understanding in concepts of constraint management, automation tradeoffs for optimal manufacturing efficiency, and Lean manufacturing.

• Six-Sigma / Lean-Six-Sigma Green or Black Belt a plus.

Special Requirements

• Position requires frequent travel – global and domestic travel.
