Logistics Project Manager - Houston

This role assumes full ownership of end-to-end project execution for complex domestic and international shipments, leading the planning, coordination, and successful delivery of projects while ensuring operational excellence, financial performance, and high levels of customer satisfaction. In this role, you will take strategic responsibility for project planning, budgeting, risk mitigation, and stakeholder management. You will serve as the primary point of contact for customers and key stakeholders, driving performance, resolving escalated issues, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will oversee day-to-day operations while contributing to the team, fostering continuous improvement, accountability, and operational efficiency across all assigned projects. Key responsibilities and tasks Assume full lifecycle ownership of assigned Projects from end to end across all manner of transportation modes required including customs and port throughput processes. Develop detailed project execution plans, including timelines, milestones, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies. Ensure all shipments are delivered on time, within scope, and within approved budgets. Proactively identify potential disruptions and implement corrective actions to maintain project performance. Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, building strong, long-term relationships. Lead client meetings, provide performance updates, and ensure alignment with customer expectations and contractual obligations. Collaborate with suppliers, carriers, agents, and internal departments to ensure seamless execution. Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets and cost forecasts. Analyze transportation costs and implement cost-control strategies to optimize profitability. Approve and review freight invoices, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate billing to clients. Contribute to pricing strategies and support commercial opportunities where applicable. Oversee preparation and accuracy of all shipping documentation, including bills of lading, arrival notices, delivery orders, invoices, and supporting documents. Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and company policies. Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and operational efficiency. Provide guidance, mentorship, and oversight to Project Coordinators and support staff. Delegate tasks effectively while maintaining accountability for overall project outcomes. Foster a collaborative, performance-driven team environment. Ensure accurate and timely entry of project data into company systems. Generate and present performance reports to leadership and clients. Maintain comprehensive documentation for audit and compliance purposes. Qualifications and competencies Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal teams, customers, and vendors. Strong organizational, decision-making, and time management abilities, with a focus on prioritizing tasks effectively. High attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work. Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Proficient in both verbal and written communication, ensuring clear and professional interaction with internal and external stakeholders. Proven experience in project logistics, freight forwarding, or ocean transportation management. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) and logistics platforms required.
