Interim Sr. Accountant

A great UHY client is seeking an Interim Senior Accountant . The ideal candidate will have nonprofit accounting experience, full-cycle general ledger expertise, and strong Excel skills. The Interim Senior Accountant role is a hybrid position, working onsite Monday through Wednesday and remotely Thursday and Friday . This is a contracted position with the possibility of direct hire. Interim Senior Accountant Responsibilities Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Perform full-cycle general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close activities. Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances or discrepancies. Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting requirements. Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and financial analysis. Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for annual audits and assist with auditor requests. Support the development and maintenance of internal controls and accounting procedures. Maintain accurate financial records while ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards. Assist with financial reporting related to grants and restricted funding. Collaborate with leadership and accounting team members to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency. Utilize advanced Excel to prepare reconciliations, financial analyses, and management reports. Support ERP systems and reporting platforms, including assisting with system improvements and data integrity. Prioritize multiple deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy in a dynamic environment. Provide accounting support during the organization’s continued merger integration and process improvements. Work collaboratively with the accounting team to provide practical solutions while adapting to changing priorities. Interim Senior Accountant Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field. CPA or Master's degree preferred. Three to five years of recent experience in financial reporting and general ledger accounting. Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred. Experience within affordable housing or property management is a plus. Experience with financial reporting, account reconciliations, and month-end close. Internal controls and audit support experience preferred. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics ERP preferred. Experience with Sage 50, Sage Intacct, and Solver reporting platform is a plus. Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting. Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving processes and competing priorities. Accounting systems savvy with the ability to quickly learn new systems and workflows. Team-oriented professional who is willing to support the organization through ongoing change and merger integration rather than attempting to completely redesign existing processes.
