Medication Reconciliation Technician

Job Location : 125 Lattimore Rd, Rochester, New York, United States of America, 14620 Responsibilities Under general direction from Nursing Leadership, assists providers during exams. Performs a variety of clinical tasks in out‑patient clinics, including technical, procedural and information system tasks that support patient comfort, care and safety. Attaches patients to diagnostic and medical equipment such as dynamapp, pulse oximeter, EKG, cardiac monitor and pneumatic tourniquet. Provides information, comfort and care to patients during exams by explaining next steps, system status and discharge instructions. Ensures supplies and equipment are readily available for smooth operations and patient safety, keeping each exam room stocked with the correct number and type of supplies. Escorts patients from the waiting area to exam areas and obtains vital signs. Performs diagnostic testing and specimen collection per provider order, accurately labeling, logging and processing specimens according to protocol and laboratory policies. Enters patient data into the electronic medical record system. Performs administrative duties such as scheduling and registration. Maintains adequacy of clinical equipment and medical supplies, reordering, stocking, cleaning, and conducting inventory, monitoring expiration dates, and requisiting supplies from vendors. Makes recommendations to decrease costs in equipment and supply use and collaborates with the purchasing department on back‑ordered items. Implements standard infection prevention measures, monitors for breaches, and initiates corrections as needed. With RN oversight, precepts new employees to the area, providing a detailed overview of requirements and ensuring competence in all areas of practice. May assist providers during surgical procedures as an assistant: prepares room and instrumentation, provides basic patient instruction, anticipates provider needs, obtains additional instrumentation, prepares specimens for the lab, dresses wounds, calibrates equipment, sets up sterile fields, sterilizes instruments, and verifies specimen labeling and logging. Minimum Education & Experience High School diploma or equivalent and 1 year of experience in a customer‑focused/service setting required. Associate’s degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures and computer experience preferred.
