Maintenance Technician - Watson

Primary Purpose Maintain, repair, align/calibrate, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment and instrumentation, while assisting local and regional personnel in developing safety procedures and policies for specific systems and facilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Diagnose and repair pumps, motors, mainline and manifold control valves, turbine and positive‑displacement meters, proving equipment, tank gauging equipment, pressure and temperature gauges, and SCADA equipment and interfaces. Repair and service electrical components such as valve actuators, medium‑voltage switchgear and substation equipment, motor circuit protectors, motor control centers, truck‑loading equipment, remote station control systems, pressure transmitters, tank level and high‑level alarm systems, electronic and PLC controllers, digital displays, lighting circuits, safety systems, teletype, SCADA transmission equipment, and automated fire control systems. Maintain records required by the Department of Transportation and internal maintenance logs; keep CMV logs and documentation accurate and timely. Provide training to other technicians on maintenance procedures. Operate consistently with a high regard for personal safety and public safety. Other Duties Support regional projects and work with station personnel when needed. Assist with corporate engineered projects including pre‑operational testing, startup and commissioning. Collaborate with vendors and their technicians on new, repaired, or upgraded equipment. Inspect and document contract work on company assets. Assist company and contract inspectors on area and regional projects. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on terminal and mainline equipment. Use the Computer‑Based Maintenance Management System. Maintain lubrication schedules for terminal and mainline equipment. Serve as a “floating technician” to assist various locations as required. Perform other related duties as assigned. Requirements Education High school diploma, technical school degree, or equivalent preferred. Grade level depends on prior experience as a skilled technician and industry‑related experience. Technical Skills Read and understand electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, mechanical drawings, aerial strip maps, and maintain as‑built drawings. Install, maintain, and repair refined petroleum pipeline systems and equipment for station and terminal operations. Knowledge of occupational hazards, DOT requirements, calibration and maintenance records, and safety inspections. Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Mechanical aptitude and ability to complete physical tasks in varying weather conditions. Experience / Specific Knowledge Experience with refined petroleum product pipeline systems and equipment for station and terminal operations. Knowledge of pipeline hydraulics, cathodic protection, piping, valves, and pressures (preferred). Familiarity with storage tank operations, inspections, alarms, and sampling. Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record; must pass Commercial Motor Vehicle physical. If required, Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). (Obtained through application and background check.) Any applicable local, state, or federal licenses or certifications required by law or the company. Competencies, Skills, and Abilities Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to comprehend and convey written documents. Accountable and self‑motivated; works independently with minimal supervision. Ability to pass Operator Qualification (OQ) requirements. Interpersonal skills; professional and respectful demeanor with co‑workers, clients, consultants, and agencies. Physical Demands Physically capable of completing all training and job duties, including outdoor work in varying and extreme weather. Ability to perform lifting, climbing tanks (≈60 steps), walking, kneeling, and operating in confined spaces. Good visual acuity for computer screens and gauge reading; hearing for alarms. May require extended sitting during administrative tasks. Working Conditions 24‑hour emergency on‑call rotation; ready to work long hours, weekends, nights, holidays, and overtime. May involve overnight travel and working alone. Exposure to refined oil products, chemicals, vapors, and potential fire hazards. Climatic extremes vary by assignment location. Supervisory Responsibility None. Preferred Qualifications Experience with construction contractors. Experience in pipeline inspection. Experience with petroleum storage and dispensing operations. Basic knowledge of cathodic protection. Knowledge of pipeline operations. Compensation and Benefits Pay range: $47.00 to $61.00 per hour, plus discretionary annual incentive plan.
