About the Position

Ability to work in fast-paced, high acuity environments. Willingness to float to postpartum and antepartum units as needed. Must serve in the role of Baby Nurse during delivery and continue care of the newborn. Description: Candidates must have experience in high-risk labor and delivery. The unit serves midwifery clients, private OBs, and adult recovery services supporting substance recovery. A strong emphasis on electronic fetal monitoring and staffing to follow guidelines is in place. Four operating rooms are located in a high-volume, high-risk labor and delivery unit. The average daily census is 15, with 500-600 deliveries per month. Nurses are expected to provide newborn care, including administering eye and vitamin K drops. Caring for the mother during labor and postpartum recovery is also part of the role. Additional responsibilities include managing medication protocols such as insulin and magnesium sulfate. Assessments and support for breastfeeding and lactation are critical components of patient care. The schedule is posted every six weeks to meet unit needs. Clinicians may float occasionally to other units as necessary. Candidates may be expected to float between other facilities nearby as needed. All travelers must be prepared to commit to working three of the five designated holidays. References are required covering the last three years of relevant experience. Travelers must be flexible regarding specific scheduling requests. The facility honors active compact licenses.
