This is a project-based contract position located in Wesley Chapel, Florida. Our home office is located in Jacksonville, Florida. The anticipated duration of the Wesley Chapel project is approximately nine (9) months to one (1) year.

The Construction Superintendent is an experienced field leader responsible for independently managing the day-to-day field operations of commercial construction projects from start through completion. This role requires strong knowledge of construction operations, sequencing, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, safety requirements, quality control, inspections, and project documentation. The Superintendent II is expected to proactively manage field activities, identify and resolve project challenges, maintain project schedules, and coordinate effectively with the Project Manager and project stakeholders to support successful project execution. Lead and manage subcontractors, vendors, and field crews to ensure construction activities are completed safely, efficiently, and according to project schedules and specifications.

Role and Responsibilities

·        Independently lead and manage day-to-day field operations from project mobilization through completion and closeout.

·        Lead and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, Foremen, and field crews to ensure construction activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, schedules, and quality standards.

·        Provide leadership and direction to field teams while promoting accountability, teamwork, productivity, and professional jobsite conduct.

·        Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, subcontracts, and project documents to ensure accurate field execution.

·        Develop and maintain project schedules, including critical path scheduling and three-week look-ahead schedules, to manage sequencing, milestones, inspections, manpower needs, and potential delays.

·        Proactively monitor project progress, identify field or scheduling issues, and develop solutions to maintain project objectives.

·        Maintain OSHA 30 certification and enforce company and site-specific safety requirements, including toolbox talks, daily safety briefings, and regular jobsite inspections.

·        Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the Florida Building Code and applicable inspection sequences and processes; maintain working knowledge of applicable permitting requirements and Notices of Commencement.

·        Coordinate required inspections and ensure deficiencies are addressed, corrected, and properly documented.

·        Manage RFIs, field changes, and field-related project documentation while maintaining accurate communication with the Project Manager and appropriate project stakeholders.

·        Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, progress updates, photographs, inspection records, and other required documentation within the company’s project management software.

·        Monitor workmanship and enforce quality control standards throughout all phases of construction.

·        Conduct and/or participate in project meetings and maintain effective communication with subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, Project Managers, owners, and internal teams.

·        Coordinate site logistics, material deliveries, manpower, and trade sequencing to maintain efficient project operations.

·        Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management to support project objectives and organizational goals.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

·        4 – 9 years of construction experience, with demonstrated ability to independently manage construction projects from start through completion.

·        Previous supervisory experience leading subcontractors, Foremen, field personnel, and construction teams required.

·        Strong understanding of construction operations, methods, sequencing, scheduling, and coordination across multiple trades.

·        Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, subcontracts, and project documents.

·        Advanced knowledge of the Florida Building Code and applicable inspection sequences and processes.

·        Knowledge of applicable environmental and permitting requirements, including EPA regulations and Notices of Commencement (NOCs), preferred.

·        OSHA 30 certification required, with demonstrated ability to enforce company and project-specific safety requirements.

·        Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain project schedules, including critical path scheduling and three-week look-ahead schedules.

·        Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively identify field, scheduling, quality, and coordination issues and implement appropriate solutions.

·        Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, and construction project management software.

·        Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with owners, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, Project Managers, and internal teams.

·        Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently manage multiple field priorities and maintain accurate project documentation.

·        Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation required.

·        Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and stand for extended periods while performing field responsibilities.

·        Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
