Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU/Telemetry night shift position requiring an active PA or Compact RN license and at least 1 year of telemetry experience.

Details

• Work in the Telemetry/PCU unit of a hospital environment
• Patient population includes cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown, and telemetry oncology cases
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule of 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• 13-week assignment length
• Floating required within the hospital and to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius if needed
• Cerner charting experience preferred

Requirements

• Active PA or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications only accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of RN telemetry experience required
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and oxygen administration
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration required)
• Skills in wound care, isolation precautions/PPE, and cardiovascular post-procedure care preferred
• Two supervisor references preferred
• SSN, DOB, and RTO required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry nursing care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Care for patients with CVA, post-TPA, seizure disorders, substance withdrawal, and traumatic brain injury
• Manage post cardiac catheterization, angiogram, and cardiac surgery patients, including pacemaker and TR band care
• Support orthopedic patients including total joint replacement and traction care
• Candidates must be available to work every other holiday
• Travel pairs accepted based on facility need, though matching schedules cannot be guaranteed
• Local candidates accepted at the travel rate
• Former permanent employees of the facility are not eligible to return as travelers
• Fingerprinting, drug screen, and required labs must be completed within 24-48 hours of signing
• Demographic sheet must be submitted within 48 hours of signing
• All compliance requirements must be cleared by the Wednesday prior to start
• Approximately 1 hour of pre-start modules required before entering the facility
