IntroductionConnecticut Valley Hospital (CVH), under the umbrella of the State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a clinical Supervising Psychologist 1 (PCN 23953). This position will oversee the Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) / Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) inpatient unit at our hospital in Middletown. Woodward 2 South is a co-ed unit with 15 clients specializing in the assessment and treatment of clients with both mental illness and an acquired brain injury (ABI).WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:Visit our new State Employee Benefits Overview page!Professional growth and development opportunities.A healthy work/life balance to all employees.WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: Providing specialized psychological treatment, programming, and behavioral interventions for patients on the Acquired Brain Injury/Traumatic Brain Injury (ABI/TBI) inpatient unit (W2S).Developing and implementing evidence‑based, ABI/TBI‑specific therapeutic interventions such as cognitive‑remediation strategies to support patient stabilization and recovery.Creating and overseeing individualized behavioral intervention plans designed to reduce aggressive incidents and improve functional outcomes.Delivering consultative psychological services across the 361‑bed Connecticut Valley Hospital campus as needed.Designing psychology‑led programming that supports faster stabilization, reduced hospital length of stay, and improved access to care for patients awaiting services.Implementing specialized behavioral interventions that help minimize reliance on constant observation, thereby reducing paraprofessional overtime needs.Providing training, coaching, and clinical support to staff to increase competency in working with ABI/TBI populations and to reduce burnout and turnover.Facilitating patient transitions by applying knowledge of the ABI/TBI waiver process and supporting discharge planning to step‑down or community‑based settings.Contributing clinical expertise to interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive and consistent care for patients with complex neurological and behavioral needs.MORE ABOUT THE AGENCY AND FACILITIES:The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), is a health care agency whose mission is to promote the overall health and wellness of persons with behavioral health needs through an integrated network of holistic, comprehensive, effective, and efficient services and supports that foster dignity, respect, and self-sufficiency in those we serve.The Connecticut Valley Hospital boasts a rich history first opening its doors over 150 years ago in 1868. Any person employed by the State of Connecticut prior to July 1, 1985 with a title in the psychology series of the classified services shall be exempt from the above licensure requirements pursuant to Public Act 613, Section 119(c).
