Springborn Staffing is seeking an experienced Accountant for a temporary opportunity with an established organization in the Greater Portland area. This temporary position is expected to last 10-12 weeks, with the potential for a permanent hire for the right candidate.

This position is responsible for a variety of accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, financial reporting, month-end close, payroll administration, benefits administration, and audit support.

The Accountant will work closely with leadership and play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting budgeting activities, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer payroll, payroll tax deposits, tax reporting, and related filings
• Manage accounts receivable functions, including billing, collections, dispute resolution, and account setup
• Process accounts payable, requisitions, and purchase orders
• Reconcile financial reports and deposit funds
• Assist with preparation, implementation, and monitoring of operating and capital budgets
• Prepare monthly financial statements and related reports
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
• Enter and maintain financial and grant-related data
• Monitor cash flow and perform monthly bank reconciliations
• Support annual audit preparation and auditor requests
• Administer retirement and benefit programs, including enrollments, terminations, and contributions
• Prepare required financial and regulatory reports
• Identify process improvement opportunities and efficiencies
• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5-7 years of accounting and bookkeeping experience
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Experience with general ledger accounting, spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple responsibilities
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with payroll, benefits administration, and HR-related functions
• Familiarity with grant accounting and government reporting requirements preferred
