Senior Geothermal Energy Project ManagerTetra Tech's National Energy Practice continues to grow, and we are adding an experienced Senior Geothermal Energy Project Manager to help grow our geothermal energy practice and support projects from concept through completion in a dynamic consulting environment.This is a senior seller-doer opportunity combining client development, business development, project management, environmental permitting, and technical leadership. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in geothermal energy development, established industry relationships, and a demonstrated track record of winning and successfully delivering work within the geothermal energy generation market.The Senior Geothermal Energy Project Manager will develop and nurture client relationships, respond to client opportunities, and collaborate with Tetra Tech's environmental and engineering professionals to successfully execute projects across a variety of technical disciplines.The role will support environmental and technical services associated with the siting, development, design, construction, and operation of geothermal energy facilities. Services may include siting, due diligence, project feasibility, air quality, water, wastewater and stormwater regulatory permitting, natural and cultural resource evaluation, and environmental compliance support for operating assets.This is a strategic growth opportunity within Tetra Tech's Energy Program. The successful candidate will collaborate with Energy Initiative Program Leads, account managers, operations leaders, and technical teams to help establish strategic direction, expand client relationships, build high-performing teams, and grow Tetra Tech's national geothermal energy practice.Location: This position is available throughout the Western United States, with opportunities to work from a Tetra Tech office or remotely based on location and business needs. Discover your full potential – join us to advance your career while leaving a lasting legacy.Essential Job Functions: As a Senior Geothermal Energy Project Manager, you will:Work with existing Tetra Tech account managers, operations leaders, and market leads to expand existing client accounts.Develop, sustain, and grow relationships with geothermal energy clients, including utilities and developers.Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the geothermal energy generation market.Support the development and growth of a high-performing team focused on geothermal energy power plant development and associated environmental and technical services.Participate in client marketing and business development activities, including proposal development, technical presentations, trade shows, client meetings, and development of marketing materials.Collaborate nationally across Tetra Tech to identify technical resources and develop multidisciplinary project teams.Work closely with Operations Management, Energy Initiative Leads, and other Business Unit Leaders to deliver safe, high-quality, profitable, and sustainable projects and services.Serve as a Senior Project Manager or Technical Advisor for geothermal energy projects.Engage with clients to identify new work opportunities and develop technical approaches, proposals, scopes of work, and cost estimates.Direct multidisciplinary project teams and provide leadership to ensure project goals, responsibilities, schedules, budgets, and milestones are achieved.Lead and manage federal, state, and local environmental permitting processes for geothermal power plants and related projects.Provide strategic guidance and leadership in navigating complex environmental and regulatory permitting challenges.Oversee teams responsible for environmental permitting and compliance activities.Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permit requirements.Coordinate and maintain relationships with federal and state environmental and ecological agencies, including BLM, USFWS, EPA, and applicable state environmental and wildlife agencies.Communicate and collaborate effectively with clients, government agencies, internal project teams, regulators, and external organizations.Ensure compliance with applicable company, industry, trade, jurisdictional, and safety standards, practices, and codes.Conduct activities in accordance with internal procedures, applicable legislation, and industry standards.Maintain current technical and industry knowledge through continuous professional development.Work safely at all times and report health and safety incidents and concerns in accordance with company procedures.Perform additional duties as required.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering; Environmental Science; Urban or Regional Planning; Environmental Policy; Environmental Studies; or a related field.Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience, with additional experience preferred.Demonstrated experience in account management, business development, environmental assessments, and federal, state, and local regulatory compliance and permitting in the United States.Existing client relationships within the geothermal energy generation market and a proven track record of winning new work.Working knowledge of planning, permitting, design, and construction activities associated with geothermal power plant facilities.Experience coordinating with federal and state environmental and ecological agencies, including BLM, USFWS, EPA, and state environmental and wildlife agencies.Demonstrated success providing leadership to project teams and motivating team members to achieve project goals and milestones.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.Strong organizational, prioritization, and planning skills with the ability to meet project deadlines.Strong leadership, diplomatic, motivational, and team-building skills, including the ability to work effectively across multiple business and technical organizations.Demonstrated ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment while promoting teamwork, innovation, and excellence.Experience preparing budget proposals and recommending subsequent budget changes when necessary.Demonstrated success leading projects to completion on schedule and within budget.Experience leading, motivating, and managing multidisciplinary project teams, including internal and external resources, while maintaining accountability for performance.Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to clients and business and financial information to management.Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.Exceptional interpersonal and client relationship skills.Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and without restrictions.Preferred Qualifications:Advanced degree or professional certification in Civil Engineering; Environmental or Ecological Sciences; Natural Resource Management or Administration; Environmental Law or Policy; Infrastructure Planning; or a related discipline.Strong understanding of geothermal wellbore construction principles, drilling technologies, and well completion strategies.Experience with drilling technologies used in geothermal well construction.Knowledge of geothermal reservoir engineering concepts and well-testing procedures.Experience collaborating with regulatory agencies on geothermal well permitting processes.GIS or data-management experience related to environmental resource investigations and tracking.Work Environment:This position supports projects on a national basis and may involve collaboration with Tetra Tech professionals, clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders across multiple geographic locations.The position is eligible for hybrid or remote work arrangements based on business and project needs.
