Manager, Faculty Credentialing
Responsible for overseeing the credentialing process for all academic, workforce, and developmental faculty teaching in both semester credit hour and continuing education programs to ensure institutional, state, and accrediting body compliance standards are met. Serves as the subject matter expert in credential evaluation and collaborates with academic and talent engagement to maintain accurate credential records and support ongoing regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Essential functions include managing and maintaining the institution's faculty credentialing processes and systems in accordance with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) policies and procedures. Evaluate faculty qualifications to teach specific courses, ensuring they meet minimum standards based on academic transcripts, certifications, and professional experience. Lead a triennial, comprehensive review of faculty credentialing standards across academic, workforce, developmental, and adult basic education areas to ensure all instructional personnel meet required qualifications. Oversee credential verification during recruitment and hiring process to maintain alignment with accreditation standards set by the SACSCOC and THECB. Manage the codification and promulgation of instructional guidelines at HCC, including faculty workload guidelines, division/chair guidelines, academic discipline chair guidelines, and others as required. Interpret and apply credentialing guidelines to complex or unusual cases, consulting with academic leadership when necessary. Manage ongoing internal compliance processes related to academic operations including student degree plan audits, discrepancy reports (contact hours, faculty workloads, etc.), faculty student evaluation of instruction (SEOI), and other related areas to uphold institutional standards and policy adherence. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data in the credentialing database and learning management systems. Design and deliver training for college division chairs and relevant staff on credentialing process, policies, procedures, and best practices. Manage and support staff responsible for faculty credentialing, ensuring operational efficiency, compliance, and ongoing professional development. Coordinate the adaptation of PeopleSoft functionalities to effectively monitor faculty, course, program, and student metrics. Prepare and provide reports for internal reviews, accreditation visits, and compliance audits.
Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in higher education administration, human resources, or a related field required, a master's degree preferred, and five years' experience in higher education administration, faculty credentialing, academic operations, or compliance required. A valid Texas driver license is also required. Special skills include MS office programs, information management systems, SACSCOC policies and procedures, Texas higher education coordinating board policies and procedures, and in-depth knowledge of regional accreditation standards related to faculty qualifications. Working conditions include general office environment. Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner. Must access, input and retrieve information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
