Today, BGC Polk serves more than 6,000 youth annually through 10 Club locations across Polk County, helping create brighter futures for local children and families. Role Description The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors and prospects to support the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Polk County. This full-time, on-site role, based in Mulberry, FL, involves managing a portfolio of individual, corporate, and foundation donors; conducting prospect research; and developing individualized engagement strategies. The role includes preparing proposals and presentations, organizing donor visits and events, and maintaining accurate records in donor databases. The Major Gifts Officer collaborates with leadership and program staff to align funding opportunities with organizational priorities, and ensures timely acknowledgements and ongoing relationship management. The position also supports planned and annual giving initiatives and strengthens alumni relationships to build a sustainable culture of philanthropy. Qualifications Demonstrated experience in major gifts and philanthropy, including Planned Giving and Annual Giving. Proficiency in Prospect Research to identify, assess, and prioritize potential donors. Experience in donor stewardship to build long-term engagement. Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders. Ability to manage a donor portfolio, set goals, and meet fundraising targets. Experience using CRM (Bloomerang preferred) and basic data analysis for fundraising. Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or related field, or equivalent experience. Knowledge of fundraising best practices, ethical standards, and relevant legal considerations.
