PhlebotomistPerform venipuncture and skin punctures competently and expediently. Has thorough knowledge of test requirements, assists in Clinical Laboratory as needed. Responsibilities include bleeding time tests, blood cultures, and blood samples.Essential Job ResponsibilitiesPromote the mission, vision, and values of the organizationPerform blood draws competently and expediently with as little patient discomfort as possibleRecord phlebotomy requisitionsIdentify the patient by comparing patient information on the requisition to the patient's identification band before venipuncture is performedDisplay courteous, professional manner towards patients, co-workers, nursing and medical staffLabel and record all test tubes, log procedures and file paperworkDemonstrate knowledge of color top tube to use, volume of blood needed and test requirementsAlways follow standard precautionsDispose all sharp instruments in a rigid sharp containerClean and supply venipuncture traysMaintain clean work areaOrder supplies as neededComplete assigned duties efficiently and in a timely mannerPrioritize STAT, scheduled, and outpatient ordersSeek guidance and direction when necessaryDemonstrate the value of team concept on a consistent basisAssist Laboratory Technician when necessaryPrepares specimens for send out to reference laboratorySends out patient test results to authorized persons when requestedCollects nasopharyngeal swabs for Covid, Influenza and RSV testingCollects throat swabs for Strep A testingFollow policy and procedures for the Clinical Laboratory and hospitalNon-Essential FunctionsPerforms other duties as assigned.Roosevelt General Hospital (RGH) is committed to providing safe, quality care to patients.
