Facilities Maintenance Electrician

ElectricianQualified rate: $33.51 per hour. New hires in this role may be paid a lower hourly rate during their qualifying period. CN employees are also eligible to an employee share investment plan (ESIP), pension, benefits, railroad retirement benefits (RRB) and other perks.Job SummaryThe electrician is responsible for performing facilities maintenance and repairs to buildings and equipment.Major Responsibilities• Perform corrective, reactive and preventative maintenance of facilities buildings, equipment and installations as well as repairs and other project work• Coordinate with lead hand electrician, facilities supervisor, contractors, other CN departments as well as other vendors for assistance or direction as required upon various types of workWorking Conditions• Position is subject to responding to emergency calls on nights and weekends as required by the supervisor and lead hand• The role is required to work inside and outside in various conditions• The role is required to work at heights, confined spaces, and any other areas work is required• Must service driven as the role works with all departments throughout CN• Must be safety conscious and capable of ensuring a safe working environment for employees and contractors• The role requires working away from home for extended periods of time• The incumbent must be available to work overtime when necessaryRequirements• Must have valid or be willing to acquire a driver's license• Must be able to read and understand electrical drawings for various types of repair work, maintenance, project work and troubleshooting• Must have a good working knowledge of power distribution and emergency power systems including high voltageTrainingThe electrician must complete all training sessions as directed by the company.
