Registered Nurse- OR I ($15,000.00 Hiring Bonus)

Utilizes a systematic approach to nursing practice incorporating assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides continuing health care and education to individuals and families to help them achieve their optimal level of health. Compensation 4x10 hour shifts, days TBD – $15,000.00. Hiring Bonus available. Responsibilities Collaborate with the health care team to complete pre‑operative physical, cognitive, spiritual, and psychosocial assessments of patients awaiting surgery. Formulate, review, and revise the plan of care on an ongoing basis, adapting care to the patient’s age and level of development. Ensure appropriate information management and documentation as per hospital policy and provide timely, thorough reports to team members using a designated hand‑off communication tool. Perform circulating duties in the operating suite and supervise surgical technologists. Ensure the Time Out procedure is performed, verifying correct patient, site, and procedure. Assist with patient positioning, comfort, and safety during surgery. Handle specimens accurately and maintain strict asepsis standards. Assess patient and family understanding, educational needs, and redirect care as required. Prepare the operating room with surgical technologists, including sterile field set‑up and use of the Surgeon Preference Card. Gather all necessary supplies, equipment, and instruments for each procedure. Handle contaminated instruments and clean the room after cases. Perform housekeeping duties as needed. Assist the surgeon by anticipating needs and providing instruments and materials promptly. Conduct sponge, needle, and instrument counts per policy and be responsible for all counted items during the procedure. Limit traffic in and out of the room during procedures. Assist in other ORs, restock supplies, manage supply areas, outdate supply cupboards, and update Surgeon Preference Cards. Provide input on acquisition of supplies and equipment to leadership. Participate in or prepare for in‑services and patient‑care conferences. Maintain joint commission standards and assist with readiness for visits. Participate in department performance‑improvement activities. Serve on hospital or system committees, maintaining two‑way communication with Surgery Center staff. Understand anatomy and physiology of surgical procedures and follow AORN guidelines for perioperative practices. Provide patient care and education according to the patient population served. Required Qualifications Registered nurse, graduate of an accredited school with a current state license. Minimum of one year of prior OR experience. CPR (BLS) certification. ACLS certification within six months of transfer or hire. PALS certification within six months of transfer or hire. Prior experience with personal computers and electronic medical records. Preferred Qualifications Minimum of two years of experience in an acute hospital setting. Pediatric experience is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated clinical competence in direct patient care and patient/family education. Ability to apply knowledge across all ages and developmental levels. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members. Strong assessment, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities. Detailed knowledge of surgical equipment and instruments. Accurate, thorough patient documentation skills. Capability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, interrupt‑heavy environment. Calm, rapid response to emergencies and stressful situations. Independent management of multiple priorities. Computer proficiency across various programs. Flexibility with daily assignments across surgical specialties and campuses.
