Institutional Giving Officer Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an Institutional Giving Officer on behalf of a mission-driven environmental advocacy nonprofit dedicated to advancing climate action, environmental justice, and civic engagement across California. This is a hybrid opportunity based in Fresno, California, with candidates in Oakland, Sacramento, Riverside, and Los Angeles also encouraged to apply.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Institutional Giving Officer will play a key role in expanding the organization’s institutional fundraising efforts by cultivating foundation and institutional donor relationships, developing compelling grant proposals, and managing the full grant lifecycle. Working closely with the Director of Institutional Giving, this individual will help secure critical funding that advances climate action, environmental justice, and civic engagement initiatives throughout California. This is an outstanding opportunity for a relationship-driven fundraiser who enjoys both strategic donor engagement and persuasive grant writing.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Annual salary of $90,000 to $95,000 , depending on experience. Hybrid work environment with a four-day work week for most of the year. RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage a portfolio of institutional funders through cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and renewal activities. Develop compelling grant proposals, reports, budgets, letters of inquiry, and other funding materials in collaboration with internal stakeholders. Conduct prospect research and build a pipeline of new institutional funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities. Lead and participate in funder meetings, presentations, and stewardship activities while partnering with the Director of Institutional Giving. Coordinate proposal development, reporting schedules, funding agreements, and grant deliverables to ensure deadlines are met. Collaborate across departments to gather programmatic and financial information, communicate organizational impact, and strengthen institutional fundraising efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in institutional giving, grant writing, foundation relations, nonprofit fundraising, or a related field. Demonstrated success cultivating donor relationships and developing persuasive grant proposals. Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Experience conducting prospect research and translating complex information into compelling funding narratives. Passion for environmental protection, racial justice, civic engagement, and mission-driven work.
