Job Overview:

The Senior Accountant reports to the Division Controller and is a key member of the Finance organization, responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of the division's accounting operations.


Key responsibilities include driving the month-end close process, ensuring the accuracy of job cost reporting and balance sheet reconciliations, maintaining a strong internal control environment, and supporting financial reporting across the Bragg Companies Division. The Senior Accountant also executes day-to-day Accounts Payable activities in coordination with the AP team, manages the vendor payment processes, partners with operations to analyze profitability, owns fixed asset accounting, and maintains effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

The Senior Accountant champions continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, strengthen financial controls, and increase operational efficiency. This role plays a critical part in the Company's ongoing finance transformation initiatives by promoting transparency, collaboration, accountability, and operational excellence while contributing to a high-performing team committed to delivering exceptional financial support to the business.

Responsibilities:

• Financial Close & Reporting: Lead the monthly close process, ensuring accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting while maintaining accountability for close deadlines, supporting schedules, reconciliations, and reporting deliverables.
• Accounting Operations: Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger and subledger activities, journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, administrative accounting responsibilities, and financial statement preparation.
• Financial Analysis & Business Partnership: Analyze financial results, investigate variances, trends, and accounting issues, and provide financial insights and commentary regarding business performance, risks, opportunities, and key operational drivers.
• Accounts Payable Management: Oversee vendor payment activities, including invoice processing, ACH transactions, check runs, wire transfers, employee reimbursements, account coding, and related accounting entries to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Process Improvement & Internal Controls: Drive accounting and procure-to-pay process enhancements, including automation initiatives, while strengthening internal controls to improve efficiency, accuracy, compliance, and reporting effectiveness.
• Vendor Management & Regulatory Compliance: Maintain vendor relationships and records, oversee supplier onboarding and tax documentation, and manage annual 1099 reporting processes to ensure IRS and company compliance requirements are met.
• Operational & Project Accounting: Support project and job costing activities, equipment costing and profitability analysis, utilization reporting, revenue recognition processes, and other operational accounting functions that support business performance.
• Fixed Assets, Leases & Debt Accounting: Administer fixed asset accounting, construction-in-process tracking, depreciation schedules, ASC 842 lease accounting, debt subledger maintenance, interest accruals, and related reconciliations.
• Tax Reporting & Cross-Functional Support: Prepare and support business property tax and other regulatory filings, collaborate with Accounts Receivable and operational teams, and provide cross-functional accounting support to ensure efficient financial operations.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Professional Experience: Experience working within the accounting department of a $400M+ revenue business, including oversight of accounting operations, financial reporting, and team leadership.
• Industry Experience: Experience with fixed assets, equipment accounting, project costing, or related operational accounting. Experience in construction, equipment rental, distribution, or other asset-intensive industries preferred.
• Leadership & Communication: Proven ability to lead, develop, and mentor accounting teams while demonstrating strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Financial Systems Expertise: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems, financial reporting tools, and multi-dimensional reporting environments. Accounting system implementation experience preferred.
• Process Improvement: Experience driving accounting transformations, improving processes and internal controls, and implementing automation or system enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Work Environment

• Location: Ability to work in our Corporate Headquarters in Long Beach, CA.
• Physical Demands: Standard office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. May occasionally require standing or moving between office areas.

• Salary: $80,000-$120,000 per year (The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salary for this position. The individual salary will be based on skills, qualifications, and experience.)
