Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Assistant Staff Project ManagerECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Assistant Staff Project Manager to join our Melbourne team and advance in a dynamic work environment. The Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Assistant Staff Project Manager performs field and project support tasks in support of construction materials testing projects under the direction of more senior staff. This role is primarily field-based and provides foundational experience in construction observation, materials testing, and project workflows. The CMT Assistant Staff Project Manager develops technical, consulting, and project management skills while maintaining a positive customer service attitude and demonstrating ECS Core Values.ResponsibilitiesAssists with field tasks supporting construction materials testing projectsPerforms construction observation and testing activities with guidance from senior staffDocuments site conditions and testing results in daily field reportsCommunicates changes in site conditions or additional testing needs to the project staffInteracts with contractors, technicians, and project team members on job sitesParticipates in project meetings with senior staff as requestedBegins learning soil classification and testing methodsPerforms testing on soils, aggregates, foundations, concrete, masonry, structural steel, asphalt, and fireproofing with limited supervisionAssists with preparation of calculations, reports, and project documentationSupports project lifecycle activities with limited office work as experience developsPerforms other field and project support duties as assignedCareer DevelopmentAs your experience grows, ECS will:Support you in enhancing your professional skills to advance and grow with us.Encourage participation in internal and external training programs and certification opportunities.QualificationsRequired Qualifications0 years of related experienceBachelor of Science in any of the multi-disciplined Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, Materials Science Engineering, Architectural Engineering, and Geology is requiredIf driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is requiredStrong communication and interpersonal skillsDependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented work ethicAbility to work effectively in teams and independentlyBasic understanding of construction materials testing principles (developing)Limited knowledge of ASTM standards and testing proceduresInterest in project management and consulting environmentsAbility to document and communicate field observations clearlyMilitary Qualifications:The following US Military ranks will qualify for this position IF they also meet the education and licenses requirements from the above section titled "Required Qualifications":E-5About UsECS Group of Companies (ECS) was founded in 1988 with the goal to raise the standards of professional engineering consulting.
