Cornerstone CaregivingCAREGIVER JOB DESCRIPTIONJOB FUNCTIONSAssist with all matters of living assistance including personal hygiene and grooming, planning and preparing meals, light housekeeping, laundry, and helping in coping with the routines of everyday lifeProvide basic companionship and moral supportAssist in walking and transportation to doctor appointments, outdoor activities, shopping, and other excursions outside the homeFollow principles of infection control and respond rapidly and appropriately in an emergency situationEnsure client's rights are adhered to including the right to privacy and dignity, the right to accept or refuse care, and the right to confidentiality of the client's informationQUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTSPersonal assistance services may be performed by an unlicensed person who is at least 18 years of age and has demonstrated competency, when competency cannot be determined through education and experience, to perform the tasks assigned by the supervisor. An unlicensed person who is under 18 years of age, is a high school graduate, or is enrolled in a vocational educational program and has demonstrated competency to perform the tasks assigned by the supervisor, may perform personal assistance services.JOB LIMITATIONSA caregiver will not function in a manner viewed as the practice of nursing according to the State's Nursing Practice Act. Specifically, the Caregiver will not administer medications, take physician's orders, or perform procedures requiring the training, knowledge, and skill of a licensed nurse.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
