Intern - Environmental Health - Fall 2026 Job Category: Animal Health Requisition Number: INTER002727 Full-Time On-site Rate: $13.50 USD per hour Locations Location: Atlanta, 225 Baker Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30313, USA Position Title: Environmental Health Intern – Fall 2026 Classification: SEATMP - Seasonal / Temporary Employee Type: INT - Intern Position Summary Our Environmental Health Lab focuses on analyzing and monitoring air, water, and light in the various habitats of the aquarium. This internship provides hands‑on experience with laboratory procedures, equipment calibration, usage, and maintenance. Interns will gain practical experience in water quality analysis while developing technical and analytical skills, preparing them for careers in environmental science, chemistry, or related fields. Responsibilities Perform laboratory tests on water samples to measure parameters like pH, Salinity, Alkalinity, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Phosphate, etc. Perform bacteriological tests, interpret results, identify trends, and report non‑compliance issues. Operate and calibrate various laboratory and field equipment (pH, Salinity and DO probes). Assist as needed in specialized testing, such as HPLC, IC, light, and air analysis. Record, organize, and analyze data. Qualifications Successfully completed a general chemistry course, including a school laboratory component, or an equivalent. Basic knowledge of water quality parameters, analytical techniques, and laboratory equipment operation.
