Job Title: Phlebotomist II Job Description This Phlebotomist II role focuses on performing high-quality blood draws for patients of all ages in a busy patient service center. You will use a range of needle gauges, with a strong emphasis on 21-gauge needles, and ensure accurate specimen collection and processing. The position requires exceptional customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a high-volume laboratory environment. Responsibilities + Perform venipuncture and blood draws on patients across all age groups, ensuring comfort, safety, and accuracy. + Use 21, 22, 23, and 25 gauge needles appropriately, with frequent use of 21 gauge needles based on patient needs and test requirements. + Collect blood specimens in accordance with established protocols, including proper patient identification and verification. + Provide a high level of customer service by interacting professionally and compassionately with patients in a high-volume patient service center. + Process collected specimens accurately, including labeling, handling, and preparing samples for diagnostic testing. + Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in the laboratory and patient service center. + Follow all standard operating procedures and quality control guidelines for specimen collection and processing. + Communicate clearly with patients and colleagues regarding procedures, expectations, and any necessary follow-up. + Support a high-volume workflow by managing time efficiently and prioritizing tasks to meet operational needs. + Contribute to a positive, professional, and patient-focused environment within the patient service center. Essential Skills + At least 2 years of phlebotomy experience. + Verifiable experience drawing blood on all age groups, including children, adults, and older adults. + Proficiency in venipuncture and blood draw techniques. + Hands-on experience using 21, 22, 23, and 25 gauge needles, with strong competence using 21 gauge needles. + Strong customer service skills with the ability to work effectively in a high-volume patient service center. + Experience in specimen collection and processing for diagnostic laboratory testing. + Ability to follow established laboratory protocols and procedures accurately. + Attention to detail and strong organizational skills in a clinical or laboratory setting. + Effective communication skills when working with patients and healthcare professionals. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience working in a patient service center or similar outpatient laboratory environment. + Experience in medical or clinical settings involving specimen handling and processing. + Demonstrated ability to remain calm, professional, and patient-focused in fast-paced situations. + Interest in long-term or permanent opportunities based on performance and organizational needs. Work Environment This position is based in a patient service center within a diagnostic laboratory setting. The typical schedule runs from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., supporting a high-volume flow of patients throughout the day. You will work with standard phlebotomy and laboratory equipment, including various needle gauges, collection tubes, and specimen processing tools. The environment is fast-paced and patient-facing, requiring consistent professionalism, accuracy, and adherence to clinical protocols. The dress code requires scrubs, reflecting a clean, clinical, and professional atmosphere. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Davenport, FL.
