Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to support reverse engineering, product reliability, and the design of precision-machined parts and mechanical assemblies. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys analyzing physical components, interpreting technical information, solving complex problems, and owning projects from initial evaluation through manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze sample parts, mechanical components, and machinery to understand their design, function, and manufacturing requirements.
• Reverse-engineer existing components using physical samples, measurements, drawings, and other available technical information.
• Interpret customer specifications, engineering drawings, inspection data, and technical documentation.
• Design precision-machined parts and mechanical assemblies according to customer requirements.
• Create accurate 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Develop inspection plans that clearly communicate dimensional and quality requirements.
• Evaluate designs for manufacturability, reliability, function, and long-term performance.
• Identify missing, conflicting, or incomplete design information and determine the appropriate solution.
• Collaborate with customers, vendors, manufacturing, inspection, and other internal team members.
• Respond to technical questions and resolve engineering or production issues.
• Organize project requirements, establish priorities, and independently manage work through completion.
• Maintain accuracy and attention to detail while supporting multiple projects and deadlines.

Requirements:

• Advanced mechanical-engineering knowledge gained through a bachelor’s degree, equivalent education, or relevant professional experience.
• Experience creating 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings.
• Understanding of mechanical components, assemblies, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with reverse engineering, part analysis, machine design, manufacturing, inspection, control systems, or project management is strongly preferred.
• Ability to analyze physical parts and translate findings into accurate manufacturing documentation.
• Strong analytical and technical problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to learn new products, processes, and customer requirements quickly.
• Strong organizational skills and consistent project follow-through.
• Excellent attention to detail and recall.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
