Bakery Production Team Leader

Location: Hyde Park, MA

Position Summary

The Team Leader plays a key role in supporting bakery production while creating a positive, people-focused work environment. This role leads team members by coordinating daily activities, coaching staff, and ensuring that all duties are completed safely and efficiently.

In addition to providing leadership and guidance, the Team Leader is expected to actively participate in the work of the team, including performing production tasks and supporting team members in carrying out their job responsibilities. The Team Leader works alongside the team to ensure production goals, quality standards, and food safety requirements are consistently met.

This role balances hands-on production work with people-focused leadership, fostering a collaborative environment where team members feel supported, respected, and empowered to perform at their best.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and support team members during daily production activities.
• Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive team culture.
• Provide continuous training and mentoring to new and existing team members.
• Encourage teamwork, open communication, and problem-solving.
• Recognize team member achievements and support professional growth.
• Address team concerns promptly and escalate issues when needed.
• Coordinate daily production tasks to meet production targets and deadlines.
• Ensure bakery products meet quality, consistency, and presentation standards.
• Monitor workflow and tasks as needed to maintain efficiency.
• Support hands-on production when required.
• Ensure strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
• Follow and enforce company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct regular workstation checks to maintain cleanliness and organization.
• Serve as the primary link between bakery staff and supervisors/managers.
• Communicate production updates, shift priorities, and operational changes.
• Support cross-department collaboration (production, packaging, logistics, quality control).
• Identify opportunities to improve workflow, quality, and team engagement and present to management.
• Participate in training initiatives and operational improvement projects.

Physical Requirements

Temperature conditions inside a baking facility are extreme. You will be expected to work in extreme cold conditions in freezers and/or in hot conditions in front of ovens. Line work, freezer work, and oven work can be physically demanding. Long 10-hour days are not unusual with occasional 12-hour days. The length of the workday can be substantially reduced with effective organization and planning.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
