Project Engineer – Solar Location: Plant City, Florida Shift: 9 Hr. Day-Off 2nd Friday Position Overview Manage engineering and construction projects within the Energy Supply organization. Lead project teams as the single point of accountability for all aspects of project execution, ensuring schedule, financial, and operating performance goals are met while resolving conflicts with engineering, construction, equipment, and material providers. Project Manager I – Responsibilities Manage the planning, engineering, procurement, construction, and start‑up of multiple capital projects, overseeing scope, cost, time, risk, quality, procurement, communications, and human resources. Ensure business cases are well developed, documented, and understood, including economic analysis and justification. Develop and maintain project execution plans, ensuring adherence to standards and updating plans as conditions change. Plan, organize, and coordinate the work of multi‑discipline teams and project personnel to support company and department goals. Manage project communications, facilitate regular team meetings, provide status reporting, and deliver presentations to stakeholders and senior management. Project Manager II – Additional Responsibilities Manage increasingly complex projects involving plant capital improvements, maintenance, process changes, and new projects. Identify and improve project management processes, developing and maintaining standards, procedures, and tools. Project Manager III – Additional Primary Responsibilities Manage complex projects including new generating units or first‑of‑a‑kind projects with higher risks and larger budgets. Lead large EPC or multi‑discipline outside engineering consulting projects. Education Required: High School Diploma or GED. Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction, Business, or related field. MBA or graduate degree in Engineering Management desirable. Licenses / Certifications Preferred: Professional Engineering License, PMP certification. Experience Project Manager I: Required: Minimum 10 years in industrial or power production facilities with focus on engineering, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and contract negotiations. 6 years of related experience may be considered with a Bachelor’s degree. Preferred: Experience managing general construction, engineering contracts, and facility improvements. Project Manager II: Required: Minimum 11 years in industrial or power production facilities with similar focus. Includes at least 2 years of work directly related to the responsibilities of this position. 7 years of related experience may be considered with a Bachelor’s degree. Preferred: Enhanced supervisory experience. Project Manager III: Required: Minimum 12 years in industrial or power production facilities with similar focus. Includes at least 4 years of work directly related to the responsibilities of this position. 8 years of related experience may be considered with a Bachelor’s degree. Preferred: Extensive supervisory experience. Supervisory Experience Project Manager I: Preferred – Minimum 3 years direct or indirect supervisory experience. Project Manager II: Preferred – Minimum 5 years supervisory experience. Project Manager III: Preferred – Minimum 7 years supervisory experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA) Required: - Lead and motivate teams. - Strong communication and teamwork. - Solid understanding of power plant or industrial process operations. - Proven ability to develop project schedules and cost control systems. - Knowledge of contracting and managing outside engineering/consulting organizations. Preferred: - Working knowledge of work management systems, project management, scheduling, and cost control systems. - Skill in assessing team readiness and re‑staffing as needed. - Understanding of broader business issues and practices. Physical Demands & Requirements This position involves a mix of office work and field inspections, with occasional travel to solar sites. The role requires reasonable mobility and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. The successful applicant will be required to pass a baseline medical examination as part of the pre‑employment screening. A pre‑employment drug screening and background check will also be conducted. Storm Duty Requirements Team members are required to participate in weather‑related emergency response and recovery activities to maintain service to customers.
