SOUS CHEF (FULL TIME)

We are hiring immediately for a full‑time Sous Chef position at 555 31st Street, Downers Grove, IL 60515. Applications accepted online only. Schedule : Full time, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Requirements : Prior experience in catering and managing kitchens; Food Handler’s certification required. Pay : $21.00 per hour. Job Summary Summary : Helps the Executive Chef prepare and cook foods, coordinates activities of cooks and other food‑service associates, and assumes responsibility for the kitchen and staff in the absence of the Executive Chef. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards, ensuring all deadlines are met. Supervises hourly food‑service associates: interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, reviewing, and recommending disciplinary action as appropriate. Stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation procedures. Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures. Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils; cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving. Keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service to comply with sanitation, safety, production, and merchandising requirements. Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service‑oriented manner and relays relevant information to supervisor. Demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and explains them accurately to associates and customers. Keeps up with peak production and service hours. Monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies, tracks production, consumption, and waste, and informs supervisor when supplies or product are low. Performs other duties as assigned.
