Join our team at Behavioral Services of Louisiana, LLC, as a Child Peer Support Specialist. We are a dedicated Family Support Organization, committed to providing quality mental health services in the community. This role reports to the Director of Operations and is supervised by the Support Specialist Supervisor. As a Child Peer Support Specialist, you will be instrumental in assisting clients in developing treatment goals, enhancing social and interpersonal skills, and improving self-management of psychiatric or emotional symptoms. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about mental health and are eager to make a difference in the lives of our clients.

Responsibilities

Provide individual Peer Support Specialist services in the community.
Assist clients in developing treatment goals within the first 30 days of service.
Help clients restore, rehabilitate, and develop social and interpersonal skills.
Identify, enhance, and establish support networks, community awareness, and coping strategies.
Assist in improving clients' self-management of psychiatric or emotional symptoms.
Participate in collaborative meetings with Behavioral Health Services staff and other community supports as needed.
Communicate clients' status regularly, including changes in mood or functioning, medical issues, and all crisis and health and safety issues.
Attend all office trainings and regular clinical supervision sessions.
Ensure timely and accurate documentation of services provided.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Self-identify as a current or former consumer of mental health services or a first-degree family member.
Demonstrate a minimum of 6 months in self-directed recovery within the last year.
Ability to use computer interface for documentation and billing purposes, or willingness to learn.
