Civil Engineer - Land Development

We are seeking a Civil Engineer specialising in Land Development to join a busy multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality residential, commercial and mixed-use schemes. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to contribute to projects from initial feasibility and planning through to detailed design, approval and construction. You will work closely with clients, architects, planners, surveyors, contractors and statutory authorities to develop practical, cost-effective and compliant engineering solutions.


Your responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing infrastructure designs for roads, drainage, utilities, earthworks and related external works. You will produce technical reports, specifications, calculations, drawings and supporting information for planning and technical approval submissions. The role will involve drainage strategies, surface water management, sustainable drainage systems, flood risk considerations, highway layouts and site level design. You will also coordinate surveys and investigations, liaise with approving bodies, respond to technical queries and support projects through construction, including site inspections and resolution of design issues.


Applicants should hold a relevant civil engineering qualification and have proven experience in land development, infrastructure or a related consultancy environment. You will need a sound understanding of UK planning, highway and drainage standards, together with experience using relevant design and modelling software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage or equivalent. Familiarity with Section 38 and Section 104 agreements, construction detailing and approval processes would be advantageous. Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to manage competing deadlines and work effectively both independently and as part of a project team. A professional qualification or progress towards chartership is desirable. A full UK driving licence may be required for occasional travel to project sites.
