This role serves as a technical leader, partnering across business and IT teams to solve complex business challenges through scalable, secure, and innovative technology solutions. The Lead Application Architect works on assignments involving diverse scope and complexity, exercising a high degree of independent judgment and influence.This architect will play a key role in Humana's electronic medical record (EMR) transformation initiatives, supporting the transition from eClinicalWorks (eCW) to athenahealth. The individual will collaborate with stakeholders across the enterprise to design and implement architecture solutions that enable interoperability, integration, and seamless patient care experiences.Key responsibilities include:Leading technical planning, solution architecture, and application design activitiesDefining and evolving architectural standards, specifications, and technology roadmapsEvaluating new technologies, products, and services to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture principlesEnsuring compatibility and integration across interconnected applications and platformsProviding architectural guidance and technical leadership for large-scale healthcare technology initiativesPartnering with executive and business leaders to develop technology strategies that support organizational goalsDriving architectural decisions for complex, high-impact initiatives while operating with minimal supervisionUse your skills to make an impact Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field8+ years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer, Technical Lead, Solutions Architect, or similar role supporting large-scale IT initiativesPrior experience leading complex technical projects and influencing cross-functional teamsStrong application architecture, system design, and integration experienceAbility to analyze complex business and technical challenges and develop effective architectural solutionsPassion for contributing to an organization dedicated to improving consumer and patient experiences through technologyPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting Electronic Medical Record (EMR/EHR) platforms and healthcare technology ecosystemsKnowledge of healthcare interoperability standards and API-based integrationsExperience with SaaS platforms and cloud-based application architecturesExperience with integration engines and technologies used to support healthcare interoperabilityKnowledge of healthcare data exchange patterns and enterprise integration best practicesExperience working in Agile delivery environments and modern software development practicesFamiliarity with athenahealth, eClinicalWorks (eCW), or similar healthcare platformsWork at Home Requirements: To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.$129,300 - $177,800 per yearThis job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan.
