Position Summary World Relief Western Washington (WRWW) seeks a Family Support Services Specialist‑Early Childhood to expand our programs for the local immigrant and refugee community with children under five years of age. Family Support Services (FSS) provides individualized support to children and families in accessing early childhood and learning systems for healthy development and a successful school start. The role also supports facilitation of play and art‑based group programs for parents and children. Overall, our programs focus on culturally responsive, strengths‑based, healing‑centered wraparound services that support holistic development, educational support, community integration, and belonging. This is a temporary full‑time position funded through a grant agreement until September 30, 2026, and contingent upon funding extension. Role & Responsibilities Outreach, Enrollment and Intake Build and maintain the FSS program caseload through outreach and follow‑up on referrals from WRWW, community partners, and direct family requests. Follow all intake and enrollment processes. Resources and Systems Navigation Assist families with applying for WCCC subsidies, childcare, and early childhood systems such as ECEAP/Head Start, Preschool, home‑visitation programs, and Kindergarten. Provide follow‑through support with additional needs, cross‑departmental referrals, and case coordination. Playgroups and Parent‑Child Programming Facilitate the monthly play group in North Seattle. Organize and facilitate play‑based parent‑child workshops, planning art or science projects for families. Family Engagement Partner with families using a culturally responsive and healing‑centered framework; assess requirements, set goals, connect resources, and offer support. Ensure sustained engagement through active follow‑up and relationship building. Provide home‑visits and accompany families to navigate systems and resources. Community and School Partnerships Build resources list and establish connections with local organizations and partners to expand services for refugee and immigrant families and children. Family Engagement Events Coordinate family engagement events, field trips, and training/workshops. Support initiatives to provide family resources and meet needs (e.g., backpack drives). Assessments Administer student assessments and parent feedback surveys to support program learning and evaluation. Documentation Use internal tools and database to collect, track, and update participant information, documents, case notes, and feedback. Work with Coordinators and Program Manager to ensure early childhood program data are recorded timely. Teamwork Assist the Children and Family programs team with planning, services, and support for other program activities as needed. Contribute overall programming insights and expertise to strengthen services for families and children in the community. Other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief. At least 1–2 years of experience working directly with families and children in an early learning/school setting or a role that supports accessing community resources and navigating systems. Effective, professional, collaborative, and positive communication with caregivers, students, volunteers, and staff. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness and ability to travel to participant homes and partner sites. Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a driving record check. Current CPR/First Aid Certification required. Individuals with lived immigrant/refugee experience strongly encouraged to apply. Christian faith is a prerequisite for employment. Preferred Qualifications Strong collaboration skills with caregivers, team members, and community partners. Creative, resourceful, and self‑motivated. Strong organization and time‑management skills. Cross‑cultural sensitivity and humility; demonstrate active listening and respectful engagement with culturally diverse families. Proactive in building partnerships, researching resources, and facilitating opportunities for children and families. Knowledgeable about inclusive early childhood practices, IFSP/IEP procedures, and reducing barriers and stigma for people with disabilities. Accountable and thorough with excellent follow‑through on each task. Experience with planning/coordinating programs and events for families and children preferred.
