Director of Purchasing

Job Description

A growing organization is seeking a strategic Director of Purchasing to lead procurement and supply chain operations. This role is responsible for overseeing purchasing, subcontracting, vendor management, capital expenditures, and related procurement functions while ensuring cost-effective sourcing, supplier performance, and operational efficiency.

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Pay: $146k-$188k/annually (+ 15-20% travel)

Schedule: Monday-Friday

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all procurement and purchasing activities, including subcontracting, vendor management, and capital expenditure purchasing.
• Develop sourcing strategies, negotiate contracts, and maintain key supplier relationships.
• Drive process improvements to increase efficiency and team performance.
• Oversee supplier performance, risk management, dispute resolution, and supply chain issue mitigation.
• Monitor procurement KPIs and ensure timely fulfillment of purchasing requests.
• Partner with business leaders to support operational objectives and improve procurement processes.
• Prepare and present executive-level reports on procurement performance, risks, and cost impacts.
• Manage and develop purchasing managers, supervisors, and procurement staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, or a related field.
• 10+ years of procurement or purchasing leadership experience.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and supplier management skills.
• Knowledge of supply chain management, subcontract administration, and contract review.
• Proven success in process improvement, project management, and cross-functional collaboration.
• High ethical standards with strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
