Desktop Support Technician (Big Island, HI)

Location: Big Island, Hawaii (On-Site)

Job Type: Long-Term Contract

We are seeking a Desktop Support Technician to join a long-term enterprise support program for a leading energy utility organization. This role is responsible for desktop deployment, hardware support, conference room technology support, inventory management, and end-user technical assistance across multiple locations on the Big Island.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesktop Deployment & Asset Management

• Acquire PCs, laptops, and conference room equipment from company warehouses.
• Stage, image, configure, and deploy desktop and laptop systems using standard corporate images.
• Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and assets.
• Distribute equipment to designated locations for deployments, repairs, and replacements.
• Support approximately:
  • 30-40 PC builds per month
  • 10 conference room troubleshooting requests per month
  • 30 employee moves and equipment replacements per month

Technical Support Services

• Hardware and software installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Desktop and laptop support for Windows-based systems.
• Service Desk and end-user support.
• Hardware relocations and workstation setup.
• Printer installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Inventory control and asset tracking.
• E-waste management.
• Documentation of support procedures and technical processes.
• Accurate and timely ticket updates, incident documentation, and data entry.
• Participation in special IT projects as assigned.

Conference Room Support

• Support and troubleshoot conference room technologies, including:
  • Video conferencing systems (Polycom and similar solutions)
  • Projectors
  • Large-format displays and widescreen TVs
  • Audio/visual equipment
• Assist with connectivity, configuration, and user support.

Required QualificationsTop Skills

• Experience installing, configuring, and supporting:
  • Windows 11
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Adobe applications
  • Standard enterprise desktop software
• Experience supporting desktop and laptop hardware, including:
  • Monitors
  • Docking stations
  • Keyboards
  • Other workstation peripherals
• Working knowledge of iOS and mobile device support, including:
  • Configuration
  • Connectivity
  • Application support
  • End-user troubleshooting

Additional Required Skills

• Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network and locally connected printers.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe applications with end-user support experience.
• Understanding of conference room audio/visual technologies and troubleshooting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple support requests in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic knowledge of electrical equipment safety.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work under desks and tables.
• Ability to climb ladders and navigate stairs.
• Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 60 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• CompTIA A+ Certification or equivalent experience.
• Experience supporting enterprise-level environments.
• Experience with video conferencing and collaboration technologies.

Service Level Expectations

Technicians are expected to meet the following response and resolution targets:

Severity 1 (High)

• Mission-critical or workgroup-wide outage.
• User contacted within 15 minutes.
• On-site within 2 hours.
• Resolution within 1 hour.

Severity 2 (Medium)

• Significant issue affecting productivity.
• User contacted within 30 minutes.
• On-site within 4 hours.
• Resolution within 2 hours.

Severity 3 (Low)

• Non-critical issue requiring same-day support.
• User contacted within 60 minutes.
• On-site within 6 hours.
• Resolution within 3 hours or next business day if reported late in the day.

Travel Requirements

• Technicians must have a reliable personal vehicle.
• Daily travel between client locations may be required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Hilo, HI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
