Assistant Controller

JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Controller supports accurate financial reporting, business analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls across the organization. This role partners with accounting, finance, operations, and logistics teams to review financial results, analyze performance, monitor costs, support strategic planning, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Comply with Eco Material safety policies and procedures. Review transactional details, financial statements, reports, and general ledger activity for assigned profit centers and business units. Support the monthly close process, including account reconciliations, journal entries, variance analysis, and review of financial results. Provide detailed financial analysis, commentary, and recommendations to support business decisions. Develop, monitor, and report on key performance indicators and financial metrics. Lead or support the annual budgeting process, periodic forecasting, and related variance analysis. Collaborate with department heads and business leaders to establish, monitor, and manage budgets. Analyze cost structures and identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and stronger cost controls. Conduct financial modeling and scenario analysis to support strategic planning and operational decision-making. Develop, document, and maintain effective internal controls, including Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, to support financial accuracy and integrity. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, company policies, laws, and regulations. Coordinate with internal and external auditors and provide requested schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation. Act as a liaison between accounting, finance, operations, logistics, and other business departments. Stay informed on relevant accounting standards, financial systems, technologies, and best practices. Support senior management with strategic planning initiatives, special projects, and ad hoc analysis. Perform other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Leadership abilities and the ability to relate and interact well with accounting team and operations management Five plus years of accounting experience in a management position. Strong general ledger and other related system experience. Strong skills in excel and other Microsoft office products. Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions Experience in analyzing business performance and developing financial plans Excellent communication and leadership skills EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience 2 years relevant experience ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT The employee should possess the ability to: Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out Prolong standing or in stationary position Complete repetitive movements Bend and/or twist Lift/move/transport items up to 10 pounds Ability to move or traverse about the facilities Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection) This is not necessarily an all-inclusive list of job related responsibilities, duties, skills, efforts, requirements or working conditions.
