The General Manager is responsible for the day‑to‑day management of a single property (Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, or historic hotel) to ensure optimum performance and continual improvement in five key result areas: guest service satisfaction, profit/financial control, sales/marketing, property appearance and asset maintenance, and employee quality and morale. The GM ensures the implementation of optimal products and services to the hotel’s target groups based on pre‑agreed marketing plans and budgets, and reports operating information to corporate management. Responsibilities Implement the operating and financial plan for the hotel using best practices and SOP policies; achieve or exceed targeted top‑line revenue and GOP. Work a 50‑hour week, which may include weekends/evenings (Saturday and/or Sunday). Maintain 100% guest satisfaction and continuously improve operations. Retain and maximize existing revenue opportunities and identify new revenue channels in collaboration with the sales team. Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reporting to Corporate Accounting. Manage department heads and recruit qualified applicants, training employees to company standards. Resolve employee issues consistently with company policies. Inspects and documents repairs, cleanliness, and overall property appearance to ensure optimum upkeep. Organize multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Communicate effectively with senior operations management. Represent Summit Hospitality Group’s culture: “Where Service is the Ultimate Amenity.” Maximize revenues and flow to GOP to meet or exceed budgeted EBITDA. Prepare property operating budgets and business segment forecasts with the Revenue Management team. Prepare yearly capital expenditure budget. Manage labor standards and property expenses to optimize profit. Reconcile financial accounts, monitor collections, vendor commissions, and refunds with Corporate Accounting. Monitor inventory of supplies and equipment, ensuring purchases stay within budget and approved vendors. Work with the sales team to meet revenue objectives and make sales calls. Identify and pursue local market business opportunities, maintaining relationships with local companies and tourism boards. Instill 100% guest satisfaction objectives across all associates. Resolve all guest related issues in line with company goals. Motivate and direct all employees; act as Chief Morale Officer. Conduct coaching/counseling sessions, performance evaluations, improved plans, disciplinary documentation, and terminations when necessary. Mentor and develop supervisory staff. Perform duties in all aspects of hotel operations when required. Serve as Manager on Duty and be on call 24 hours a day, which may include weekends and emergency substitutions. Qualifications Minimum 3‑5 years of direct GM experience with national brands such as Marriott, Hilton, or Hyatt. Demonstrated success in top‑line revenue and GOP financial performance. Highly organized and efficient, working with minimal oversight. Team player with leadership ability. Socially engaged and passionate about guest service and representing the brand. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in MS Office and hotel technology platforms such as Opera and Micros. Understanding of inventory management, contract negotiation, and franchisee policies. F&B experience preferred. Preferable degree in Hospitality Management. Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced business environment. Work Environment Hotel property with 90‑200 rooms, meeting space, and F&B; requires frequent walking, standing, and interaction with guests, employees, and management.
