Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field TechnicianECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician to join our Melbourne team and advance in a dynamic work environment. The Field Technician performs field observations and begins conducting routine testing of construction materials under direct supervision. This role is primarily field-based and supports project execution by collecting data, documenting site conditions, and assisting with testing activities. The Field Technician develops foundational technical skills and familiarity with construction practices while maintaining a positive customer service attitude and demonstrating ECS Core Values.ResponsibilitiesPerforms field observation, testing, and sampling of soil, aggregates, and concrete under supervisionAssists with construction materials testing activities on project sitesCommunicates daily with contractors, technicians, and project managersReports changing site conditions and additional testing needs to supervisorsAssists with preparation and submission of daily field reportsSupports basic calculations and data entry related to testing resultsAssists in organizing and maintaining field equipmentNotifies supervisors of damaged or missing equipmentParticipates in project meetings with senior staff as requestedPerforms other field and project support duties as assignedCareer DevelopmentAs your experience grows, ECS will:Support you in enhancing your professional skills.Encourage participation in internal and external training programs and certification opportunities provided by organizations such as OSHA 10, ACI, ASNT, AWS, ICC, NICET, NRCA, RCI, various State DOTs, WACEL, and others, as appropriate.QualificationsRequired Qualifications0 years of related experienceHigh school diploma or GED requiredObtain basic certifications applicable to the work performed as per the ECS Technician Certification PolicyIf driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is requiredGood communication skills (verbal, written, and reading comprehension)Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented work ethicVery limited to no knowledge of CMT principles and testing standardsBasic math skills and data entry abilityAbility to read maps, follow directions, and interpret plans (developing)Basic proficiency with electronic devices (tablets, phones, laptops)Ability to work effectively with supervisors, peers, and clientsAbility to lift equipment and materials regularly (up to ~85 lbs)Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and follow all local and state laws, road/driving regulations, and company policiesMilitary Qualifications:The following US Military ranks will qualify for this position IF they also meet the education and licenses requirements from the above section titled "Required Qualifications":E-4About UsECS Group of Companies (ECS) was founded in 1988 with the goal to raise the standards of professional engineering consulting.
