Travel RN - Telemetry - Progressive Care UnitAmerican TravelerDes Moines, Iowa, United StatesPosition status: OpenAssignment type: travelShift: DaysLength (weeks): 13Openings: 1$3,322.08/week (estimated advertised weekly pay)DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring a Med Surg/Progressive Care RN for a Days position requiring IA or compact RN license and 24 months of neuro/ortho hospital experience.DetailsSurgical/Neuro/Ortho unit in a hospital setting with 25 bedsPatient population includes heavy neuro trauma, neurosurgery, craniectomy, and orthopedic casesRN to patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:6Uses telemetry, chest tubes, airvo, and left equipmentAdministers drips including Heparin, PCA, and 3% Sodium (no titration)Epic EMR usedDays shift, 4x12s, 48 hrs/week (36 hrs/week available if preferred)Weekend rotation every other or every third weekend depending on staffing/censusNo on-call requirementsRequired to float across IMMC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist campusesRequirementsActive IA or compact/multistate RN license required at time of considerationCurrent BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or ARC)NIHSS certification preferred, can be obtained during onboardingMinimum 24 months of Medical Surgical, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care experience in a hospital settingNeurology/neurosurgery care experience requiredOrthopedic care experience requiredTrauma care experience highly preferred, Level I trauma experience highly preferredEpic EMR experience requiredEKG/strip reading and measuring/telemetry experience requiredExperience with Heparin, PCA, and 3% Sodium drips requiredDe-escalation certification (CPI, MOAB, MAB, or SAMA) preferredMust have completed at least one prior travel assignment within the last 12 monthsDriver's license required for considerationProfessional reference from a supervisor/charge nurse/manager within the last 24 months preferredAdditional InformationProvide medical-surgical and progressive care nursing to a heavy neuro trauma, neurosurgery, and ortho patient populationRequired to work 1-2 of the upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closedLimited time off requests permitted around the Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Year holiday periodsNavy blue scrubs requiredMust live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligiblePast UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN) may be restricted from travel assignments at other UPH facilities depending on recent employment history
