School Resource Officer

Position Title School Resource Officer – Lebanon Schools Police Department Employment to begin as of 7/1/2026 Education Required ILEA Tier 1 Graduate- Certifications up to date Previous Experience Required Minimum of 3 years’ experience in law enforcement practice. General Description of Position Duties We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to serve as a Certified School Resource Officer (SRO) at one of our schools. The SRO will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors while providing a positive and supportive learning environment. Maintaining order and discipline in the school environment Providing a visible presence to deter criminal activity Building positive relationships with students, staff, and the community Responding to emergencies and incidents in a timely and professional manner Investigating criminal activity and preparing case reports Participating in school and community events Providing safety and crime prevention education to students and staff Collaborating with school administration and local law enforcement agencies Special Skills, Training or Mental Aptitudes Required Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, and communication skills. Have the courage to face danger and the ability to be assertive when necessary They must exercise sound judgment, often in high-stress situations Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. Ability to effectively interact with people from diverse backgrounds, youth and adult. Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends. Willingness to undergo ongoing training and professional development. Ability to handle and balance multiple demands at the same time and able to solve problems quickly Physical and Mental Efforts This position requires a high level of physical endurance Frequent standing, particularly for sustained periods of time Frequent walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one part of the building to another Ability to hear and listen to detailed information through oral communication. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and distance vision correctable to 20/20.
