A growing and vital company, Flex-N-Gate provides a great opportunity for hard-working and skilled individuals.The Environmental Health & Safety Manager develops implements and maintains all Environmental, Health and Safety programs for the facility to ensure safe, healthy and accident-free work environment by performing personally or through direct reports.Core competencies include analytical skills, accountability and dependability, coaching and mentoring, communication, creative and innovative thinking, customer focus, decision making and judgement, development and continual learning, energy and stress management, enforcing laws, rules and regulations, ethics and integrity, planning and organizing, problem solving, research and analysis, team work, and time management.Flex-N-Gate training requirements include new employee orientation, electrostatic discharge, global harmonization, personal protective equipment, ISO – 14001 lead auditor, lock out tag out, hilo operation, crane operation, production equipment maintenance, management of ozone depleting substances, contractor management, waste water management, emergency response management, solid and hazardous waste, construction debris management, oil filter management, scrap metal waste management, used oil management, lead acid battery management, outside material and equipment storage, mercury containing device management, used shop towels, sleeves, gloves and oil absorbent products, tower/chiller chemical usage, gas cylinder, drum and tote management, chemical storage, HID, fluorescent tube and ballast disposal, tritium based emergency lighting disposal, OSHA and state OSHA regulations, train the trainer, storm water certification, MIOSHA – 10 hour, RCRA – hazardous waste, universal waste, MDEQ reporting, SARA Title III Tier 2, accident/incident investigation, first aid/CPR, IATF/ISO related training, worker's compensation/claim management.Job duties include environmental management training, job site inspections and reporting, acting as environmental management representative (EMR) with issues relating to ISO 14001 elements, performing job site environmental compliance inspections, monitoring adherence to the company environmental management program, coordinating emergency response teams, planning, organizing and conducting training programs/seminars, coordinating activities of other environmental compliance personnel, planning, designing, developing, implementing and evaluating departmental environmental management programs, handling environmental testing, recordkeeping and submission of reports, providing advice and counsel, designing environmental management standards, developing and implementing complex environmental programs, coordinating inspections, investigations and environmental management activities, researching environmental management information, advising on improvements in tracking and reporting procedures, leading and participating on teams, acting as a team leader to special task forces or teams, providing direction and guidance to less experienced environmental personnel, following ISO 14001 requirements, maintaining up-to-date environmental regulatory knowledge, managing the health and safety program, and managing worker's compensation claims.Requirements include a university bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in environmental management, health & safety or related field, five years environmental management work experience in a manufacturing environment, maintaining current waste water and storm water certifications, thorough knowledge and understanding of environmental regulations, compliance and reporting, thorough understanding of ISO 14001 standard requirements, strong organizational skills, strong communication skills (both verbal and written), proficiency with database applications and administration systems, specifically Microsoft Office, ability to work effectively alone and prioritize, highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with an attention to detail, strong analytical ability, supervisory and interpersonal skills, troubleshooting ability, strong decision making and problem-solving skills, proven good presentation skills, ability to manage & prioritize multiple projects, and detail oriented.Working conditions include manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals, physical ability to lift 25lbs, travel as necessary, attending and/or conducting presentations as necessary, may be exposed to hazards associated with manufacturing, and overtime as required.What we offer includes medical, dental, prescription, vision, life and disability insurance; and a flexible spending account, 401(k) retirement savings plan with company match, extensive safety training, new hire orientation, continuous learning and development programs and tuition reimbursement, paid holidays and vacation time.
