Project Accountant

Client Overview: Our client is a well-established company in the real estate industry. They are seeking a motivated accounting professional to join their team as the Project Accountant and contribute to the financial management and reporting of their growing portfolio. Salary/Hourly Rate: $65k - $75k Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Project Accountant to join our client's team. This position will support project financial management by performing accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end close, and providing financial reporting support. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities of the Project Accountant: Perform full-cycle accounting activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting support. Assist with month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Maintain and analyze project financial records, including tracking expenses, costs, and variances. Support project accounting and job cost accounting functions, including monitoring project-related financial activity. Prepare and review account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness. Assist with the preparation of financial statements and internal reporting. Ensure transactions are recorded accurately in accordance with GAAP and company policies. Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and support process improvement initiatives. Collaborate with Project teams and internal stakeholders to gather financial information and address questions. Provide audit support and maintain organized financial documentation. Required Experience/Skills for the Project Accountant: 6+ months of accounting experience with exposure to full-cycle accounting processes. Strong understanding of GAAP, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statements. Strong analytical and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Experience/Skills for the Project Accountant: Project accounting or job cost accounting experience is preferred but not required. Experience supporting project-based organizations, construction, real estate, or professional services industries. Familiarity with accounting software and financial reporting systems. Experience in analyzing financial data, budgets, and project costs. Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required for candidates with limited experience.
