Generous PTO starting at 208 hours annually. What You’ll Do For Our Patients Collaborate with providers and medical assistants on patient care, organization, and communication. Use professional judgment to deliver imaging services, applying X‑ray technology for patients of all ages. Perform Medical Assistant duties under a provider after training – a strong opportunity to expand your skill set. What To Expect In a Day Teleradiology reads all imaging. Work is varied – you are not doing the same thing all day. NO Fluoroscopy studies. NO Operating room cases. NO Unit portables. NO on‑call or overnight shifts. Job Description Summary The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with medical providers and/or medical assistants with the examination and treatment of UPMC‑GoHealth Urgent Care patients. The role is responsible for providing a variety of technical procedures and applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. The RT performs and analyzes patient X‑rays, reports results to providers, and provides administrative support to ensure efficient operation of urgent care centers. Job Requirements Education High School Diploma required. Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required. Work Experience Experience in a clinical setting preferred. Required Licenses/Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire. State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required if applicable by state law. Essential Functions Perform X‑ray services as needed. Under direction of a clinical provider, use X‑ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment for patients of all ages. Ensure patients are positioned correctly and protected during use. May need to push a patient in a wheelchair. Patient Preparation and Rooming Inform technical staff of patient flow. Prepare patients by conducting interviews, verifying medical history, and confirming purpose of visit. Perform vital signs (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) and escalated critical cases to the provider as needed. Conduct point‑of‑care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG) and provide results to providers. Administrative Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files. Conduct courtesy call‑backs for patient follow‑up on care. Follow operating instructions to perform daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain QA/QC logs and submit repair tickets as needed. Other Responsibilities Include Collaborate with ordering/treating providers to determine procedures or views that best assist in accurate diagnosis and treatment. Support clinic operations to keep the center running smoothly. Explain procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and safety, and answer their questions. Accurately position patients and equipment for optimal imaging results. Select appropriate ionizing factors and adjust radiographic controls to capture clear, high‑quality diagnostic images. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of X‑ray equipment, and manage supplies. Adhere to radiation safety protocols and implement ALARA principles to minimize exposure. Maintain accurate patient records and logs of completed procedures in electronic systems. Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists for interpretation. Knowledge Knowledge of X‑ray procedures and protocols. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology required for X‑ray testing, including body mechanics and patient movement. Knowledge of radiology equipment and common safety hazards. Skills Position patients properly for X‑ray procedures. Identify equipment problems and notify supervisor.
