The following states/districts are excluded from this job ad: AK, CA, CO, CT, DC, HI, LA, MA, MN, MO, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NM, NY, ND, OR, PR, RI, VT, WA, WYFuture Need - Actively InterviewingLocation: Executive Office for Immigration Review, 4825 Mark Center Drive, Suite 200, Alexandria, VA 22311We are seeking a Junior Cybersecurity Specialist to support incident response, vulnerability management, and threat monitoring for a federal agency's IT security program.Position Description: The Junior Cybersecurity Specialist provides technical support and day-to-day monitoring of alerts and vulnerabilities.Minimum/General Experience: 2 - 3 years of vulnerability scanning, remediation, and incident response Minimum Education: High School diplomaEssential Skills/Qualifications:Above average experience providing day-to-day monitoring of security alerts and the execution of vulnerability scans and remediation tasksExperience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and Endpoint Protection toolsExperience identifying potential threats, providing preliminary analysis of logs, and supporting the deployment of precautionary measuresExperience assisting in the maintenance of technical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Experience documenting the remediation of vulnerabilities found during scanning cyclesKnowledge of vulnerability management and scanning operations (e.g., Tenable)Excellent verbal and written communication skillsExperience supporting a federal agency (preferred)General Physical Requirements needed to perform the essential functions of this job may vary based on the location of the assignment.Assignment Location - Executive Office for Immigration Review, 4825 Mark Center Drive, Suite 200, Alexandria, VA 22311Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.Typing, communicating, repetitive motions.Close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, view computer monitors and read. May need to view presentation screens and other visual aids in a virtual setting.Inside environmental conditions with protection from outside elements.Security: Ability to obtain/maintain a Federal Civilian Public TrustU.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident that has lived in the United States for at least 3 yearsFederal Civilian Public Trust Consists of a review of up to but not limited to:Covers 10 year period and in some instances lifetime eventsOPM Security Investigations Index (SII)DOD Defense Central Investigations Index (DCII)National Agency Check (NAC) recordsFBI name checkFBI fingerprint checkCredit report checkWritten inquiries to previous employers and references listed on the application for employmentPotential interviews with the subject, spouse, neighbors, supervisor, coworkersLaw enforcement checkCourt records checkEducation check- Attendance and DegreesAcceptable CredentialsTasks/activities include, but are not limited to:Monitors security alerts and executes vulnerability scans and remediation tasks dailyIdentifies potential threats through log review and preliminary analysisSupports deployment of precautionary measures against malicious codeAssists in reviewing cyber incident tickets in ServiceNow and JIRA, flagging duplicates or false positivesSupports investigation of equipment loss incidents for potential data compromiseExecutes vulnerability scans using tools such as Tenable and documents remediation activitiesReviews audit logs and reports, flagging critical and high vulnerabilities for escalationSupports tracking of remediation effortsSupports monitoring of employee user activity through insider threat detection toolsAssists in collecting and cataloging data to identify potentially indicative behaviorSupports the Cybersecurity Analyst in maintaining insider threat-related scripts and reporting metricsCompensation & Benefits: The annual projected pay range for this position is $72,571 - $95,543 with consideration being given to various factors including but not limited to qualifications, experience, job responsibilities, and geographic location.
